The MacBook Air has long been one of the few laptops where you don’t have to choose between performance, battery life, and portability — you get everything at once. The 15-inch model with the M4 chip is now offered by e-shops according to Heureka starting from 28,533 CZK, while the newly introduced M5 in the same size starts at 35,990 CZK. Seven thousand crowns for a performance increase that you won’t even notice in office use is a pretty clear answer to the question of which version makes more sense.

M4 vs. M5

The M4 chip brought about a 25% increase in CPU performance compared to M3 and a significantly more efficient Neural Engine for AI tasks, including Apple Intelligence — which, by the way, Czech is not yet supported, so its relevance for Czech users remains limited. The M5 will raise the bar even higher, but unless you’re rendering in Final Cut Pro all day or compiling extensive projects, you won’t really feel the difference. For web browsing, Office work, photo editing, or watching videos, the M4 has plenty of performance to spare. For 28,533 CZK, you’re buying a laptop that will last you easily five years without feeling outdated.

Why the 15-inch model specifically

The thirteen-inch model is more compact, but the 15-inch Air brings significantly better speakers — six transducers with a woofer in an anti-resonant arrangement and Dolby Atmos. You’ll appreciate the larger 2,880 × 1,864 px display when working with spreadsheets or editing photos, where two windows fit side-by-side without issues. And yet it weighs only 1.51 kg — less than most 14-inch Windows laptops in a similar price range. The MacBook Air 15″ M4 starting from 28,533 CZK is simply one of the few laptops where you’ll really have to look hard for compromises.
