75″ 4K Samsung TV for only 15 thousand! It has its flaws, but it's enough for casual viewing

While browsing Heureka, I came across an interesting discount. The Samsung UE75U8072, which launched in April 2025 for 24,990 CZK, can now be found starting from 15,189 CZK. That’s a 40% drop in less than half a year. For that price, you get a 75-inch TV with 4K resolution and the Tizen system. But there are some catches.

What you get for 15 thousand

The Samsung U8072 offers a 75-inch LED panel with 4K resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels). It supports HDR10+ and has local dimming, which helps with contrast. The 50/60 Hz refresh rate is nothing extraordinary, but it’s sufficient for casual viewing.

The Tizen system is advanced and offers all important streaming services – Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Oneplay, and others. The SmartThings hub allows you to control your smart home directly from the TV.

Connectivity is solid – 3× HDMI 2.1, WiFi 5, Bluetooth, and Apple AirPlay 2. The 20W sound isn’t anything special, but Dolby Digital+ and surround sound at least save something.

What you don’t get for 15 thousand

The main compromise is the display technology. The U8072 uses Edge LED backlighting – meaning LED diodes on the sides of the panel, not behind it. The result is poorer backlight uniformity and limited local dimming. Black won’t be truly black, more like dark gray.

Samsung Ecosystem: A Blessing and a Curse

If you already have a Samsung phone, soundbar, or other devices, the U8072 integrates beautifully into the ecosystem. SmartThings works flawlessly; you can mirror your phone’s screen with one click or control the TV with your phone.

On the other hand, Samsung locks you into its world. While Tizen is advanced, it has fewer applications than Google TV. Some features work best (or only) with other Samsung devices.

Who this TV makes sense for

The Samsung UE75U8072 for 15 thousand is a reasonable choice if display size is the priority and you are willing to compromise on picture quality. It’s suitable for large living rooms where you sit far from the TV. For casual viewing of Netflix, YouTube, or news, it’s perfectly adequate.

Samsung fans who are used to Tizen and have other devices from the brand will appreciate the seamless integration. For seniors, it can be a simple and proven system.

Conversely, I do not recommend this TV for demanding viewers, gamers, or people in small apartments. For the same money, you can get a higher-quality smaller TV that will have a better picture and lower power consumption.

Verdict: size isn’t everything, but sometimes it’s enough

The Samsung UE75U8072 for 15,189 CZK is not the best price/performance ratio on the market. Edge LED backlighting and energy class G are already relics in 2025. But if you simply want a giant TV from a well-known brand with a functional system, it’s an acceptable compromise.

A 10 thousand discount in half a year shows how quickly an average TV loses value. If you’re not under pressure, wait for Black Friday or Christmas sales – it might even drop below 14 thousand. Or you might buy something better for the same money.

For casual viewing, it’s a sufficient TV. Just don’t expect a wow effect during movie nights. It’s simply a large screen that serves its purpose. Nothing more, nothing less.
