What you get for that money

LG QNED85A is a QNED TV with Mini LED backlighting and local dimming. It features 3840 × 2160 (4K) resolution with 10-bit color depth, support for HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ (automatically adjusts the picture to room lighting). The panel has a native 100/120 Hz refresh rate, up to 144 Hz in gaming mode. Connectivity includes 4× HDMI, 2× USB, Bluetooth, Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2, and DLNA. WebOS offers access to all common streaming services.

What to honestly expect

It’s important to be straightforward here: the QNED85A is LG’s entry-level Mini LED. LG traditionally doesn’t state the number of dimming zones, but in practice, there are significantly fewer than in competing Mini LED TVs with higher brightness. Contrast on an IPS panel is weaker – black isn’t black, but rather dark gray, especially in a darkened room. Local dimming exists, but it adds a noticeable halo effect around bright objects on a dark background. Peak brightness is too low for HDR content to look truly striking, and in a bright room, the TV struggles with reflections. During fast motion (action scenes, FPS games), noticeable blurring is visible due to slower pixel transitions.

On the other hand: SDR colors are excellent after calibration, upscaling of lower resolutions (DVB-T2, older DVDs) works solidly, and during normal viewing in daylight, black doesn’t fade as significantly as with other IPS panels.

Verdict: size vs. picture quality

The LG 86QNED85A for 29,990 CZK is a TV where you are primarily buying screen size. 218 cm for this price is a great offer – for sports, family movie watching, or for a commercial space. However, if your living room can handle a smaller diagonal and you care more about picture quality, for 30 thousand CZK, you can buy a 55–65″ OLED with perfect blacks and contrast that the QNED85A cannot offer.
