The Xiaomi smart scale, designated as the Mijia Body Composition Scale S400 Pro, which we wrote about during its Chinese premiere, is now heading from China to the rest of the world. It boasts an overview of twenty-five body values and a large color display, where you’ll see them immediately after stepping on – without reaching for your phone. What all can the Xiaomi smart scale measure? The main draw remains the measurement range. According to Xiaomi, the scale tracks up to 25 body parameters – besides weight itself, for example, fat percentage and amount, visceral fat, muscle mass, water percentage, protein, BMI, or basal metabolism. Immediately after weighing, it can also perform a heart rate estimate. The way it obtains data also differs. Instead of the usual metal electrodes, the entire plate is covered with tempered glass with a conductive ITO layer, so practically the entire 300 × 300 millimeter surface acts as a sensor. Inside, dual-frequency bioimpedance measurement at 50 and 250 kHz is used, which, according to the manufacturer, can distinguish between fluid inside and outside cells, thus making body composition estimation more accurate. The brand boasts about its accuracy: the results for body fat are said to match the so-called DEXA method, which is X-ray measurement considered the gold standard, with a correlation of over 0.93. However, this is a value from Xiaomi’s own testing, which we cannot independently verify, so take it as indicative. What are the large display and app for? The biggest change compared to its basic sibling is the 3.5″ color TFT display. Key data such as weight, fat percentage, or heart rate can be read directly on the scale. A detailed analysis, including waist-to-hip ratio, body age, bone muscle mass, or recommended weight, then awaits in the Xiaomi Home app, where the values are transferred via Bluetooth. Adam Kurfürst News Adam Kurfürst News The scale is designed for the whole household. It recognizes up to 36 user profiles and can store 160 measurements in memory, which synchronize to the phone as soon as it connects – so you can weigh yourself even without your phone nearby. It can handle people from 6 to 80 years old (younger and older will only have their weight measured), but it can also weigh small objects, a child in your arms, or perform a balance test. Power is provided by four AAA batteries, which, according to the manufacturer, should last approximately 150 days. Price and Availability Xiaomi has not yet announced how much the scale will cost in Europe and the Czech Republic – the global product page currently displays a product card without a price or sales date. A guide could be its Chinese premiere last September, where the new product started at an equivalent of approximately 560 Czech crowns (179 yuan) and commonly sold for around 780 Czech crowns (249 yuan). Whether and for how much it will officially arrive here is not yet clear. Would you replace your ordinary scale at home with one that measures twenty-five values?
