A sixteen-inch laptop that weighs one and a half kilograms? That’s not a typo. Acer Aspire 16 AI combines a large display with a weight you’d expect from 13″ ultrabooks. And it adds battery life that even surpasses the MacBook Air.

Snapdragon X: less power, more hours on battery

At the heart of the laptop is the Qualcomm Snapdragon X – an entry-level chip from the ARM processor family. Eight cores at 3 GHz, 16 GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It’s nothing extraordinary, but it’s more than enough for office work, web browsing, light photo and video editing, or streaming. CNET awarded the laptop Editors’ Choice with a rating of 8.3/10.

The main magic of Snapdragon lies in its efficiency. CNET measured over 21 hours of battery life while streaming YouTube – that’s almost 4.5 hours more than the 15″ MacBook Air with an M4 chip. PCWorld was more conservative with 15.5 hours, but even that is an excellent result for a 16″ laptop.

However, be aware of compatibility. ARM processors may not work perfectly with all Windows applications – some run via emulation and are slower. Before purchasing, verify that your software supports ARM.

Large display, low weight

The 16″ IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz is fine for its class. That last number is a rarity in this price category – most competitors only offer 60 Hz. The display covers 100% sRGB, brightness reaches 350 nits, and the matte surface handles reflections.

The resolution isn’t dazzling – on a 16″ display, you’d probably appreciate 2.5K more. Text is slightly pixelated, but not distractingly so. For this price, it’s an acceptable compromise.

What surprised reviewers: a 1080p webcam (most competitors still have 720p), a huge touchpad, and Wi-Fi 7. Ports include 2× USB4, 2× USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and a microSD card reader. The keyboard has a numeric keypad and Czech layout.

Where Acer saved money

The speakers are subpar – “no bass, muddy sound,” CNET summarizes. Count on headphones or external speakers. The Qualcomm Adreno graphics can only handle basic tasks; it’s not for gaming.

The original price was 19,990 CZK, gradually dropping to 17,990 CZK, and now with the discount code ALZADNY10, you can get the laptop for 16,191 CZK. For a lightweight 16″ machine with all-day battery life and decent features, it’s a reasonable price. Just make sure your applications are compatible with an ARM processor beforehand.

Do you prefer a large display on a laptop, or do you prefer compact dimensions?
