Adjustable desks have become a standard in offices and home workspaces over the past few years – and the reason is simple: alternating between sitting and standing truly helps. The problem is the price: a decent electric desk with a desktop usually costs 12–18 thousand. The AlzaErgo ET1 NewGen with a 140 × 80 cm bamboo desktop for 9,778 CZK with code ALZADNY30 is an opportunity to acquire a complete desk for a price at which you would otherwise only get the frame. And with 469 ratings and an average of 4.7 out of 5, it is one of the best-selling adjustable desks on the Czech market.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you want to switch to alternating between sitting and standing and are looking for a complete desk + desktop solution at a reasonable price.
⚠️ Consider if you expect premium, no-compromise craftsmanship or need an extended warranty – this model does not offer one.
💡 For 9,778 CZK you get 2 motors, 125 kg load capacity, a bamboo desktop, touch control with 3 memory positions, and an anti-collision system.

What you get for the money

The AlzaErgo ET1 NewGen features a steel frame with 3-segment legs and two motors that operate at a speed of 38 mm/s with a noise level of up to 50 dB – in practice, this means you will hear the position change, but it won’t disturb a call or colleagues. The height range of 62–128 cm covers both sitting work for shorter individuals and comfortable standing for people over 190 cm. A load capacity of 125 kg means the desk can easily support a setup with multiple monitors, arms, and accessories. The frame width can be adjusted between 100–170 cm, making it suitable for various desktop sizes.

The LED touch panel displays the current height and allows you to save 3 favorite positions – changing the position then requires a single touch. It includes a timer that reminds you when it’s time to stand up (or sit down). The anti-collision system with two sensors should stop the desk upon impact with an obstacle – however, we will return to its reliability in the reviews section. The power cable is 3 meters long, and standby power consumption is only 0.3 W. The 140 × 80 × 2 cm bamboo desktop is lacquered, and screws for its attachment are included – however, the desktop is not pre-drilled.

What 469 customers say

Most common praise: stability, quiet motor operation, price/performance ratio, and simple controls. One reviewer directly compares the ET1 NewGen to a Herman Miller Jarvis at double the price – and states that the AlzaErgo has a smoother and quieter motor. Another user confirms reliability even after 3–4 years of use. It is repeatedly mentioned that the desk is surprisingly stable even at higher positions – monitors do not shake during normal typing. Several customers have purchased the desk repeatedly (one reviewer mentions a fourth unit).

However, there are plenty of criticisms, and it’s important to be aware of them. The most common complaint is the assembly manual – many customers describe it as confusing, with skipped steps and illogical order. The desk can be assembled, but expect to spend some time puzzling over the instructions (an experienced DIYer can do it in an hour, a less skilled person will need patience). The desktop is not pre-drilled, which complicates assembly – you will need your own measurements and a drill.

More significant criticisms concern long-term reliability. Several customers report oil leakage from the legs or error codes (E21, E24, rSR) after 2–4 years. The warranty is a standard 24 months and cannot be extended – which, for a desk costing less than 10 thousand that should last for years, can be a problem for some. The anti-collision system works, but its reliability is inconsistent according to reviews – sometimes it reacts even to a light touch, other times it doesn’t brake sufficiently. The cable tray under the desk is impractical and obstructs legs according to multiple users; several reviewers recommend not installing it at all and using a fabric pocket instead.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

The AlzaErgo ET1 NewGen with a bamboo desktop for 9,778 CZK is a desk for those who want to start working standing up without paying 15–20 thousand for it. Two motors, 125 kg load capacity, 3 memory positions, and a bamboo desktop in one package – few offer this for under ten thousand. Most of the 469 customers are satisfied and compare the desk to significantly more expensive competitors. On the other hand: the assembly manual will challenge you, the inability to extend the warranty is inconvenient for a product with moving parts, and isolated reports of oil leakage after 2–3 years are worth noting. If you are willing to invest an hour in careful assembly and accept a two-year warranty, then for 9,778 CZK, it is one of the best adjustable desks in this price category.
