Affordable Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is coming to Czechia! It will impress with a camera with optical stabilization and long-term support

Samsung quietly released its new addition to the lower mid-range segment. The Galaxy A17 model began appearing in the offerings of European retailers even before an official unveiling could take place. We informed you about the recent leak last week. Interestingly, operator Vodafone has even mentioned the Galaxy A17 5G in its press release, even though we haven’t yet seen an official presentation from Samsung. It seems the South Korean manufacturer might not even be planning a formal launch, and the phone will simply arrive on the market quietly.

Display and Construction

At the heart of the Galaxy A17 is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and offers a maximum brightness of up to 1,100 nits, which is a solid value for the price. In the upper part, we find a teardrop notch for the 13MP selfie camera. Also pleasing is the IP54 rating, which provides basic protection against dust and splashing water.

Camera with Optical Stabilization

On the back of the phone, we find a trio of cameras. The main 50MP sensor is newly equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS), which should significantly improve photo quality in low-light conditions and also stability when shooting video. It is complemented by a 5MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro camera.

Performance and Battery Life

Performance is handled by Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset, which should offer sufficient power for everyday use and less demanding games. The phone will be available in variants with 4 GB RAM and 128GB storage or with 8 GB RAM and 256GB storage. The presence of a microSD card slot, which allows for storage expansion, is good news. According to Vodafone’s press release, this will be a model with 5G network support, as Samsung usually offers basic A models with 4G connectivity as well.

Power is supplied by a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 25W wired charging. On the software side, the phone comes with One UI 7 based on Android 15, with Samsung promising long-term support in the form of six major system updates and six years of security patches. It’s a bit of a shame that One UI 8 isn’t included right away, but even so, it’s very solid support for the given price.

Price and Availability

The Galaxy A17 will be available in three color variants – black, blue, and gray. In the Czech market, it will be sold for a price of around 5,700 CZK.
