Just a week ago, Samsung officially made AirDrop support available for the flagship Galaxy S26 series, which we informed you about in a separate article. Now it turns out that the Korean manufacturer plans to extend this feature much further – the Quick Share update with the “Share with Apple devices” toggle is starting to appear on older phones as well. But there’s a catch.

Which phones are receiving the update?

According to reports from abroad, the new AirDrop sharing option is appearing on the Galaxy S25, S24, S23, and S22 series. Among foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a supported device. Some mid-range models, including the Galaxy A56, A55, and A36, are also reportedly receiving the update.

The necessary updates are arriving via the Galaxy Store and include Quick Share v13.8.51.58, Quick Share Agent v3.5.22.24, and Quick Share Connectivity v1.5.13.15. Most reports come from users of the One UI 8.5 beta, but some phone owners with stable One UI 8 are also reportedly seeing the new item in their settings.

The feature is not yet working

And now for the bad news. Although users see the “Share with Apple devices” toggle after installing the updates, actual file sharing with iPhones and Macs is not yet happening. Samsung phones do not appear in the AirDrop menu on Apple devices, and vice versa. 9to5Google tested the feature on both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 7 – in both cases without success.

Everything suggests that Samsung (or Google) still needs to activate the feature server-side. Full functionality might only arrive with the stable version of One UI 8.5.

Are you looking forward to being able to share files between a Samsung phone and an iPhone?
