This power bank from AlzaPower targets iPhone owners who want an elegant cable-free backup power source. Just magnetically attach it to the back of your phone, and charging starts automatically. With a thickness of just 9 mm and a weight of 130 g, it practically doesn’t get in the way during normal use – you can hold the phone in your hand, text, or browse the internet.

Charging: wirelessly and via cable

The power bank has Qi2 certification, which is a successor to the older Qi standard with higher efficiency and alignment accuracy. Wireless charging reaches a power of up to 15 W, which corresponds to the maximum supported by iPhones. Strong magnets of specification N52 ensure a firm attachment and correct alignment – the power bank holds even through a thinner MagSafe case (maximum charging distance is 4 mm).

Also available is a USB-C port with a power of up to 20 W and support for fast charging standards Power Delivery 3.0, Quick Charge 3.0, Samsung AFC, Huawei FCP, and Apple 2.4A. Critical voices agree on two things. The first is heating during wireless charging – this is physically unavoidable with wireless power transfer, but some users report that in hot weather, the phone overheats and charging pauses.

The second complaint concerns real capacity. A nominal capacity of 5,000 mAh does not mean that you will get that much energy into your phone – losses occur during wireless transmission. Users report that the power bank charges an iPhone 15 Pro Max (with a 4,400 mAh battery) to about 50%, while a smaller iPhone 13 mini can be fully recharged. It is therefore more of an “emergency” for extending battery life than a source for multiple charges.
