If you are one of those who face the “buy or not buy an air conditioner” dilemma every summer, now might be the right time. Alza has significantly discounted its mobile air conditioner Siguro AC-I160W Breeze 16 from the original 13,999 CZK to 8,199 CZK. That’s a 41 percent discount, which is worth considering. Especially since it has decent specifications on paper, including WiFi control.

Siguro is Alza’s own brand, similar to AlzaPower or AlzaErgo. The advantage is an extended 3-year warranty and the fact that you deal with complaints directly with the seller. The disadvantage is sometimes poorer build quality – and according to reviews, this applies here too. Users complain about sides taped with electrical tape or a soft hose that twists and falls out of the window.

Does it really cool 32 square meters? According to reviews, yes

The air conditioner has a power of 16,000 BTU/h (4.7 kW), which should be sufficient for a room up to 32 m². And according to real-world experience, this is indeed the case. A user from Pankrác writes that it “cools the attic beautifully during the day”. Another reviewer states that it noticeably cools the room within a few minutes – if the outside temperature is up to 30 degrees, it’s enough to run it for 10-20 minutes.

In addition to cooling, it also handles dehumidification with a capacity of 35 liters per day and functions as a regular fan with three speeds. Energy class A with an EER coefficient of 2.6 means it consumes 1.71 kWh per hour of operation. At a price of 6 CZK/kWh, an hour of cooling will cost you approximately ten crowns.

WiFi control works, but it’s no miracle

An interesting feature is control via the TUYA mobile application, which works on both Android and iOS. This allows you to turn on the air conditioner on your way home from work and arrive to a cooled apartment. Several users praise this feature – Josef from Otročiněves lists “app connectivity” among the pros, as does Daniel from Most.

On the other hand, pairing with a phone is not entirely intuitive. David from Loun writes: “Confusing WiFi setup – far from user-friendly.” Furthermore, several reviewers report that the air conditioner constantly disconnects from WiFi, which is annoying.

Noise level 65 dB – the biggest stumbling block

Here we encounter the main problem. The manufacturer states a noise level of 54-65 dB, but the reality is worse. Jaroslav from Buk directly writes: “The real noise level on a slow fan is 74 dB at a distance of 2 meters.” That’s really a lot – for comparison, 65 dB corresponds to a loud conversation, 74 dB is already like a vacuum cleaner.

Practically all reviews mention noise as the main disadvantage. “Noisy like a vacuum cleaner”, “can’t sleep or watch TV with it on”, “it’s like being locked in an industrial freezer” – these are authentic customer reactions. According to them, night mode helps only little – it reduces the front fan speed, but the compressor still runs at full power.

Everything you need is included in the package

The package includes a telescopic hose for hot air exhaust, a window seal with Velcro, a remote control, and batteries. That’s great, you don’t have to buy anything extra. However, the quality of the accessories matches the price – the hose is soft, twists, and “radiates heat like a radiator,” as another customer writes.

Most users recommend treating the window seal as a temporary solution only and making their own solution from plywood or plastic. The air conditioner motor is 100% copper, which is a plus for its lifespan.

Honestly? For 8 thousand, it’s a reasonable compromise for those who don’t want to spend tens of thousands on a branded air conditioner but still want to survive the summer heat. Just be aware that it won’t be a quiet companion, and the build quality matches the price.
