Apple introduced a new smart home hub and a small speaker, but you won’t find either novelty in its Czech store. Alza is saving the situation for domestic interested parties: it has already added HomeView and HomePod mini 2 to its offer. For the speaker, it is accepting pre-orders, while for the display, availability is still pending. Instead of looking for devices abroad, a path through a Czech e-shop is emerging.

HomeView is expected to cost 7,990 CZK

For HomeView, an estimated Czech price of 7,990 CZK is expected. Alza already lists the silver version with a base in its catalog, but it has not yet specified the stocking date. Therefore, consider this amount as an expected price, not a confirmed offer for a device in stock.

HomeView combines a seven-inch Liquid Retina display with a speaker base and a tilting joint. It will serve for FaceTime calls, music playback, and smart home control. The interface also adapts to distance: from across the room, it shows a simpler overview, and up close, more details.

Face recognition is particularly important for private data. Calendar or messages should be displayed to a specific household member, not to everyone who passes by. Apple also links their accessibility to the presence of a paired, recently unlocked iPhone or iPad.

HomePod mini 2 can now be pre-ordered

For the smaller speaker, the purchase is one step closer. Alza is accepting pre-orders for HomePod mini 2 and states an estimated price of 4,490 CZK. Apple will begin sales in the first markets on October 30th; the exact delivery date for Czech orders has not yet been confirmed.

Besides the new green and pink colors, Sound Glow is striking. The top surface lights up and reacts to music, deriving shades from the album art of the played album. Inside, an S10 chip works, and the speaker continues to offer omnidirectional sound, stereo pairing, or multi-room playback.

With the new fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, the option of a four-speaker setup is added. HomePod mini 2 can thus also serve as a rear speaker for the TV; Apple shows a combination with large HomePods in the front. It can now also be set as the default Mac speaker, but this feature requires a model with Wi-Fi 6E or newer.

Czech sale does not mean Czech Siri

Apple has not yet officially launched HomeView in the EU due to the unavailability of Siri AI in iOS in this market. Siri AI is expected to be added to HomePod mini 2 later, and initially only in English in selected countries. Alza’s offer therefore helps with the purchase itself, but it does not change Apple’s regional and language restrictions for its services.

Would you use a standalone smart display at home?
