It primarily attracts with its thin design, which won’t bother you in your pocket or on the back of your phone during charging.

Why this new product is interesting

This AlzaPower power bank targets owners of iPhones and Android phones with Qi2 who want a thin power backup attached to the back of their phone. It is particularly interesting due to the combination of two things: Qi2 certification with strong N52 magnets for precise attachment and a semi-solid battery, a newer type of cell that AlzaPower uses instead of classic lithium. Thanks to this, the body has a thickness of only 7 mm and a weight of 110 g, so it hardly gets in the way when attached to the phone.

The capacity is 5,000 mAh (19.25 Wh), which is intentionally low, in exchange for a thin body. Realistically, expect to charge your phone roughly once – it’s more about “topping up during the day” than a power bank for the weekend. It charges wirelessly with up to 15 W via MagSafe/Qi2, and also has a USB-C output with up to 20 W power for cable charging. Two devices can also be charged simultaneously (wirelessly plus via USB-C), but then the power is divided. The power bank itself recharges in about 1.5 hours with a 20W adapter, which is pleasantly fast.

A word about the battery: semi-solid does not mean a full-fledged solid-state battery, but an intermediate stage between classic lithium and a solid electrolyte. The benefits include higher energy density (hence the thin body), better safety, and longer lifespan than conventional cells. It’s not the revolution that marketing sometimes suggests, but a real technological shift in the direction the power bank market is heading.

Practical aspects: magnets, cases, charging

N52 specification magnets hold the power bank firmly and can even charge through an attached case – the manufacturer states a maximum distance of 4 mm, while recommending MagSafe cases for certainty. The package includes a double-sided USB-C cable (30 cm), so you have something to charge both the power bank and the phone right out of the box. The body is made of durable ABS plastic and flame-retardant material, and there are six safety protections against overvoltage, short circuit, overheating, and other risks.

However, one limitation needs to be known in advance: the power bank does not support Low Power Mode, so you cannot charge smartwatches or headphones with low power consumption through it (Alza explicitly warns about this).

What to watch out for

The most important thing is real endurance: 5,000 mAh, with wireless charging which always has certain losses, is roughly slightly over half a charge for an average phone, or at most one full charge for an iPhone. Anyone expecting a power bank that charges a phone three times should definitely look for models with higher capacity. The second thing is the price of 1,199 CZK, which is higher for a 5,000 mAh capacity; you pay for Qi2 certification, a semi-solid battery, and a thin design.

When it doesn’t make sense

If you need a lot of power for several days without an outlet, this new product is not it – opt for a classic 20,000mAh power bank. Anyone who doesn’t have a phone with MagSafe or Qi2 and doesn’t want to deal with a magnetic ring will lose the main advantage and will only have a USB-C output, which can be bought cheaper elsewhere. And if you want to charge watches or headphones, this power bank cannot do it due to the missing Low Power Mode.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

If you have an iPhone with MagSafe or Android with Qi2 and want a thin magnetic power bank to top up your battery during the day, the AlzaPower Qi2 Ultra Slim SSB for 1,199 CZK is an interesting new product – mainly thanks to its semi-solid battery, Qi2 certification, and 7mm body. But take seriously that 5,000 mAh is for one charge and that the price reflects the technology, not the capacity. For those who appreciate modern design and magnetic convenience more than the amount of energy, this is a successful product with a three-year warranty. Those who prioritize endurance will find models with higher capacity for the same money.
