For 22 thousand, you can easily buy a 65″ or 75″ Mini LED TV — but with half the number of dimming zones and mostly without Dolby Vision IQ. The Hisense 55U8Q is now on Alza for 22,392 CZK and offers parameters you would find in significantly higher price ranges from other brands. If you’re not primarily concerned with inches but with picture quality, it’s one of the best 55″ TVs on the market.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you want a top-notch picture on a 55″ screen — whether for movies, games, sports, or as a large 165 Hz PC monitor via USB-C.
⚠️ Consider that for a similar price you can get a larger Mini LED TV, but with lower backlight quality.
💡 For 22,392 CZK you get 1,092 dimming zones, Dolby Vision IQ, 4× HDMI 2.1, a built-in subwoofer, and a 5-year warranty after registration.

Why 55″ and not larger

1,092 local dimming zones on a 55″ panel is an extremely dense network — blacks are deep, blooming around bright objects is minimal, and contrast approaches OLED models, which, however, have lower brightness. Brightness up to 4,000 nits in HDR means the TV can handle direct sunlight thanks to the Anti-Reflection PRO anti-reflective coating. Quantum Dot technology with Pantone certification delivers accurate, realistic colors.

The 165 Hz gaming mode with VRR, ALLM, and FreeSync Premium Pro certification across all four HDMI 2.1 ports makes the U8Q an excellent gaming display. And here comes an interesting scenario: a USB-C port with 4K at 165 Hz transmission allows connecting a MacBook or other laptop — the TV will serve as a premium monitor with a subwoofer and Dolby Atmos all in one.

The built-in 4.1.2 audio system with 70 W output (specifications state up to 100 W in combination with Hi-Concerto) with a subwoofer and upward-firing speakers is above standard for built-in sound. International reviews confirm that you don’t need a soundbar for regular viewing.

What to keep in mind

The VIDAA system has Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Prime Video, and Czech services (Oneplay, Lepší.TV, Skylink), but it’s not Google TV — you cannot install your own applications. For 99% of users, this doesn’t matter, but for tech enthusiasts, it can be a limitation. And 55″ is simply 55″ — if you sit further than 2.5 meters, consider whether the diagonal is sufficient for you.

When it comes to TVs, do you care more about size or picture quality?
