Smart Home via Xiaomi Home

The Xiaomi S40 is controlled via the Xiaomi Home app, where you can see a real-time map of your home, set zones where it should or shouldn’t go, and schedule cleaning for specific days and times. The app allows you to name individual rooms and send the vacuum cleaner only to a specific room – for example, if you spill coffee in the kitchen.

It also supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistants, so you can start the vacuum cleaner with your voice. If you have other Xiaomi devices at home, the S40 integrates seamlessly into the ecosystem. The LDS laser navigation scans the room in 360° and creates an accurate map, preventing the vacuum cleaner from bumping into furniture and missing corners.

The Xiaomi S40 has a suction power of 10,000 Pa, which is sufficient for dust, crumbs, pet food, and cereals. Four modes are available – silent, standard, strong, and turbo. In the app, you can see real-time power consumption and adjust the intensity.

The battery has a capacity of 5,200 mAh and lasts up to 180 minutes on a single charge in standard mode. This is sufficient for a medium to large apartment without needing to recharge. When the battery drops below a certain level, the vacuum cleaner automatically returns to the docking station, recharges, and continues cleaning where it left off. Charging takes approximately 6 hours.

An interesting feature is the anti-tangle hair technology. The main brush has V-shaped teeth and a special design that prevents long hair or pet fur from getting tangled. According to the manufacturer, this also works for the side brush. In practice, it’s not perfect, but it significantly reduces maintenance.

The Xiaomi S40 has a water tank with a volume of 270 ml and a mopping pad that attaches from underneath. In the app, you set the wetting intensity according to the floor type – you’ll use less water for a wooden floor than for tiles. The mop works in parallel with vacuuming, so it doesn’t have to go over the same spot twice.

The dustbin has a volume of 520 ml, which is average for this category. According to the manufacturer, it can last up to 90 days without emptying, but this is unrealistic – it depends on the size of the apartment and the intensity of dirt.
