An ideal addition to a smart home? The AVATTO Zigbee temperature and humidity sensor now costs only 454 CZK

Building a smart home doesn’t have to cost a fortune, especially if you can hit the right sale. The temperature and humidity sensor from the Chinese brand AVATTO has now dropped to 454 CZK on Alza, representing the lowest price for this product so far. In December, it sold for 489 CZK, and its original price was 699 CZK.

Compact sensor with E-ink display

The AVATTO Zigbee Smart Humidity & Temperature Sensor features an E-ink display that shows current temperature and humidity values. The temperature measurement range is from -9.9 °C to 60 °C with an accuracy of ±1 °C, while the sensor measures humidity up to 99.9% with an accuracy of ±5%. For typical home use, these values are perfectly sufficient.

The sensor communicates via the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which means you need a compatible Zigbee gateway for it to function. Without it, it cannot be connected to a WiFi network or controlled remotely. On the other hand, Zigbee ensures stable connection and low power consumption – the sensor is powered by a single CR2430 battery (which is not included in the package).

Automation and voice control

After connecting to the gateway, you gain access to data via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. The sensor is also compatible with Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT platforms, which will be appreciated by more advanced users with their own smart home system. Support for voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant is also included.

An interesting feature is the possibility of automation – the sensor can send a signal to other devices when set values are exceeded. For example, you can automatically start a humidifier when the air is too dry or activate air conditioning when the temperature is too high. However, this requires a compatible IR controller or other smart devices within the Tuya ecosystem.

Who is the sensor suitable for?

The AVATTO Zigbee Smart Humidity & Temperature Sensor is particularly suitable for those who already have a functional Zigbee gateway and want to expand their smart home with an affordable sensor. Compact dimensions and the option for both table and wall mounting allow for flexible placement indoors.

Conversely, if you are just starting with a smart home and do not have a Zigbee gateway, you must account for additional costs for its acquisition. In such a case, it might be more advantageous to opt for a WiFi sensor that functions independently. However, for 454 CZK, you get a solid Zigbee sensor that will reliably do its job.
