Another manufacturer will introduce file sharing via Quick Share/AirDrop. Its first models will get it soon

Last November, Google introduced the ability to share files between Android and Apple devices via Quick Share, which can communicate with AirDrop. The feature was initially exclusive to the Pixel 10 series, and in February this year, it expanded to Pixel 9. Now, Oppo with its upcoming Find X9 series is also set to add it.

Oppo joins Google Pixels

According to an official statement, the Oppo Find X9 series will support file transfers between iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices without the need to install any third-party applications, precisely with the help of Quick Share. The manufacturer mentions cooperation with Google and chipmaker MediaTek.

The operating principle will likely be the same as with Pixel phones – an iPhone, iPad, or Mac owner activates the “Everyone for 10 minutes” mode in AirDrop settings, and the Oppo phone then displays available Apple devices in the Quick Share menu. The transfer takes place directly peer-to-peer, meaning without servers and without data storage by intermediaries.

Availability from March

Oppo states that the feature should start rolling out via a software update from March. Whether it will be available only for the Find X9 series or will eventually expand to other models, the manufacturer has not yet specified.

After Google, Oppo is thus another Android phone manufacturer that will offer direct file sharing with Apple devices.
