The Pinnacle of Apple’s Craft

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is a watch for people who acquire the best — without compromises and without exceptions. The construction consists of recycled titanium (Apple is producing it for the first time this year using 3D printing), which offers exceptional durability at a weight you’ll barely notice on your wrist. The 49mm case remains the same as the Ultra 2, but the display has grown compared to its predecessor — the bezels are 24% thinner. This sounds like a cosmetic change until you open maps during a hike or want to read a notification.

The OLED panel is now LTPO3, which means finer control over the refresh rate and smoother animations. Apple has also improved viewing angles, so you can read the display even from the side, and the brightness scales from 1 nit at night up to 3,000 nits in direct sunlight.

Satellites, Hypertension, and Best-in-Class Battery Life

However, the main advantage of the Ultra 3 lies in features that other Apple Watches lack. Let’s start with the most interesting one — satellite connectivity. Who the Ultra 3 Makes Sense For

Let’s be realistic. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is not a watch for everyone. If for you sport means occasional coffee runs or light yoga at home, the Series 11 for significantly less money is sufficient. Get the Ultra series if you actually go hiking in the mountains, dive, go on multi-day cycling trips, or trail runs — activities where you’ll appreciate the battery life, satellite communication, and robust body. Apple Watch generally still have one insurmountable barrier: they work exclusively with iPhone. If you have Android, not even the biggest discount will change that.

It’s worth noting that the difference between Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 is not as vast as it appears from marketing materials. Apple has allowed many of the same software features into the Ultra 2 via watchOS 26 — Sleep Score, Liquid Glass interface, hypertension alerts (on newer models), and the Wrist Flick gesture. However, the hardware, of course, remains: satellites, 5G, a larger display, and longer battery life are only found on the Ultra 3.
