Aqara's new presence sensor detects even a person who isn't moving. It simultaneously monitors temperature and humidity Home News Aqara introduced a new FP300 presence sensor combining PIR and mmWave radar The device can detect both motion and static presence at a distance of up to 6 meters It is already listed in the Czech Republic at the retailer iStores for 1,189 CZK Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 13. 11. 2025 05:30 Advertisement The Aqara brand is expanding its smart home portfolio with the new Presence Multi-Sensor FP300, which combines several technologies for accurate person presence detection. It should arrive in Czech stores soon – for example, it is already listed at the retailer iStores with a price of 1,189 CZK. Dual Detection for Maximum Accuracy The FP300 sensor uses a combination of a PIR sensor and a 60GHz mmWave radar, allowing it to reliably detect not only motion but also the static presence of a person in a room. While conventional PIR sensors stop detecting a person who is not moving significantly, the mmWave radar captures even the smallest movements, such as breathing. The device offers a 120° field of view with a range of up to 6 meters, which is sufficient to cover most rooms. More Than Just a Presence Detector The FP300 is not just a motion sensor. It also integrates a temperature, humidity, and ambient light sensor, enabling the creation of complex automations. For example, you can set lights to turn on only when a person is detected and the ambient light level is below 400 lux, or have the air conditioning activate when the temperature exceeds 28 °C and a person is present in the room. Battery Life Up to 3 Years The sensor is powered by two CR2450 batteries, which, according to the manufacturer, last up to 3 years in Zigbee mode or 2 years in Thread mode. Battery life depends on the measurement frequency and the number of daily activations – Aqara states that testing was conducted with 240 daily reports based on 4 hours of detected presence. To save energy, you can turn off individual sensors or reduce the reporting frequency in the application. Thread and Zigbee for Wide Compatibility The FP300 supports both Zigbee and Thread protocols, ensuring wide compatibility with various smart home systems. In Thread mode, the sensor works via the Matter framework with platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, Home Assistant, or SmartThings. When using the Zigbee protocol with an Aqara hub, you also gain access to advanced features in the Aqara Home app, including detection sensitivity settings, range adjustment, or a timer for absence reporting. AI Learning for False Alarm Elimination The sensor uses artificial intelligence that gradually learns to recognize the environment and filter out disruptive elements such as curtains in the wind or pets. Thanks to its compact dimensions of 42 × 42 × 50 mm, the device can be flexibly placed on a wall, ceiling, in a room corner, or on magnetic surfaces. The PS-S04D version package also includes a metal plate and screws for mounting. Would you use a sensor in your home that can detect even a motionless person?
