Bang & Olufsen at a price usually seen for mid-range products. The Beolit 20 currently costs 9,990 CZK on Alza – this is one of the best prices this speaker has ever sold for, and significantly below its original and increased price. Details can be found in the product detail on Alza.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you’re looking for a portable speaker with premium sound quality for home listening, a terrace, or a smaller party – and you care more about sound than durability.
⚠️ Consider carefully if you need an outdoor speaker for rain and dust – the Beolit 20 does not have IP certification. Bluetooth is an older version 4.2, and Wi-Fi is missing.
💡 For 9,990 CZK you get a 70W speaker with 360° sound, Qi charging, premium construction, and sound that will fill even a larger room.

How it sounds and why it’s different from JBL

The Beolit 20 plays fundamentally differently from typical outdoor speakers. Where JBL or similar brands focus on the loudest possible bass, the Beolit 20 offers a clean, balanced sound with natural bass, detailed highs, and 360° spatial delivery. Users on Alza repeatedly describe that when listening, you feel as if you are in the same room with a live source. The frequency range of 37–20,000 Hz and 70W power can easily fill a room of 7 × 6 meters. The perforated aluminum casing allows 45% more sound through than the previous generation.

On the top side is a Qi wireless charging pad – you place your phone on it, and it charges while you listen. Two Beolit 20s (or a combination with a Beolit 17) can be paired into a stereo setup. The sound can be fine-tuned in the B&O app, but beware – equalizer adjustments only work via Bluetooth, not via AUX.

What users say – and what to watch out for

Users agree on one thing: the sound. They repeatedly describe it as the best they’ve heard from such a compact speaker. One reviewer compared it with Harman Citation 200 and Bose Soundlink, and B&O won on clarity of delivery. The aluminum and leather construction looks premium even after years.

Among the weaknesses: Bluetooth 4.2 – it works reliably, but newer codecs like aptX or LDAC are missing (it supports AAC and SBC). No Wi-Fi, no AirPlay. The B&O app is not the most intuitive. One user points out that for metal and genres with aggressive bass lines, the sound in low tones can hum unpleasantly. And 8 hours of battery life at full power is decent, but not record-breaking.

Verdict

The Bang & Olufsen Beolit 20 for 9,990 CZK is an opportunity to acquire a premium speaker at a mid-range price. The sound, materials, and design are in a different league than what more mainstream brands offer for a similar price. It’s not an outdoor speaker for the beach – it’s a home and garden speaker for people who truly want to listen to music, not just have it as background. Other audio products can be found in the current Alza Days.
