Open-fit earbuds with active noise cancellation are a rare breed – in this format, mainly AirPods 4, which cost over four thousand, do them well. You can now buy SoundPEATS Air5 on Alza for 839 CZK, which is less than half of the original price of 1,999 CZK.

👍 Get them if you hate in-ear plugs and want open-fit earbuds with decent sound and ANC for a few hundred crowns.
🤔 Hesitate if you don’t have the option to try them on – open-fit earbuds fit every ear differently, and some buyers return them for this very reason.
💰 Price tag: 839 CZK is roughly a quarter of the price of AirPods 4 with ANC, to which owners most often compare them.

Even those who have gone through all generations praise the sound

Inside are 13mm drivers with aptX and Hi-Res audio support, Bluetooth is version 5.4, and IPX5 certification handles sweat and rain. The most interesting feature, however, is in-app ear sound characteristic measurement – the headphones adapt the sound directly to your hearing. One loyal owner, who has gone through all generations of the Air series, summarized it clearly: “for less than half the price, it offers better sound than AirPods” and adds that “noise cancellation surprisingly works” – which is certainly not a given for open-fit earbuds.

Why they only have 3.8 stars

The rating of 3.8 out of 5 from 28 customers requires an explanation, as reviews are split into two camps. Satisfied customers praise the sound, app, and design; dissatisfied ones point out three specific issues. Firstly, the fit – “doesn’t sit in the ears” is the most concise review on the list, and with open-fit earbuds, it’s simply a lottery of ear shape. Secondly, the app requires registration, which caused one buyer to return the headphones immediately. And thirdly, minor details: voice announcements have an unpleasant echo (“reverberation like from a bare prison cell,” one reviewer aptly wrote) and the glossy case is a scratch magnet. None of this spoils the sound – but it’s fair to know beforehand. At 839 CZK, it’s a gamble with an excellent win/risk ratio; at the original two thousand, we would hesitate.

Are you in the in-ear plug camp or the open-fit earbud camp? And would open-fit earbuds last in your ear all day?
