The RTX 5050 is equipped with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with a base clock of 2,317 MHz and a boost clock of up to 2,647 MHz (depending on the specific model). The card uses a 128-bit bus and has 2,560 CUDA cores, which is significantly less than the 3,840 cores of the RTX 5060. Interestingly, while NVIDIA used older and slower GDDR6 memory for the desktop version, the notebook variant of the RTX 5050 received more modern GDDR7. The reason is reportedly better energy efficiency for mobile devices, but one cannot shake the impression that NVIDIA is deliberately separating performance categories with this move.

The main attractions of the RTX 5050 include support for the latest technologies such as DLSS 4.0 with Multi Frame Generation, 4th generation ray-tracing cores, and 5th generation tensor cores for artificial intelligence. Kartu testovali s procesorem AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, který eliminuje jakýkoliv potenciální throttling ze strany CPU.

Strengths and weaknesses of DLSS 4.0 with Multi Frame Generation

One of the main selling points of the RTX 5050 is the support for DLSS 4.0 with Multi Frame Generation (MFG), which is the latest generation of upscaling and generating additional frames using AI. According to official NVIDIA materials, this technology can provide up to a fourfold increase in frames per second compared to native rendering in supported games.

Další komplikací je latence – i když MFG zlepšuje plynulost, nemusí nutně zlepšit pocit z ovládání při nižších vstupních snímcích za sekundu. Pro esportové tituly, kde je důležitá rychlost reakce, je tak zcela očividně výhodnější použít pouze klasický upscaling bez generování dodatečných snímků.
