It is now complemented by a more compact and affordable Sound 2 Pro variant, which retains most smart features but opts for smaller dimensions and a lower price. Smaller, Lighter, Cheaper While the Sound 2 Max weighs 8.1 kg and boasts an all-metal die-cast construction, the Sound 2 Pro weighs only 2.1 kg. Its body is made of plastic with a metallic spray finish, visually imitating the premium look of its more expensive sibling. Its dimensions are 142.5 × 107.5 × 263.1 mm, making it a significantly more compact choice. An interesting feature is the magnetic interchangeable panels, which allow the speaker’s appearance to be customized to the interior. Xiaomi offers both metal and fabric variants as optional accessories. Two-Way Acoustics Instead of Three-Way The Sound 2 Pro features two-way acoustics consisting of a 3.75-inch 40W subwoofer and a 20W tweeter. The total output is therefore 60 W. The more expensive Sound 2 Max, in contrast, offers a three-way configuration with two subwoofers and a coaxial mid-range/tweeter. Cheaper, smaller, but still smart. Smart Features Remain In terms of smart features, the Sound 2 Pro is not limited. It features Bluetooth 5.2, two Wi-Fi chips for wireless network organization, and supports Xiaomi Mesh 2.0 with a central gateway function for smart home control. The integrated Super Xiao AI voice assistant utilizes a large language model and handles natural conversations. Similar to the larger model, up to four speakers can be connected to create surround sound. With an optional wireless audio connector, a latency of just 64 ms can be achieved when connected to a TV. The speaker also supports Dolby Audio when using the aforementioned accessory. Price and Availability The Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro is sold in China for 1,399 CNY, which converts to approximately 4,300 CZK. Compared to the Sound 2 Max, priced at 1,999 CNY (about 6,200 CZK), it is noticeably cheaper. Xiaomi has not yet released information about a possible global launch, but it is rather unlikely.
