Confirmed! Pixel Buds 2a will really bring what we've been waiting for

Google is finally preparing to solve a long-standing problem with its earbud portfolio. Known leaker Evan Blass has published a specification table for the upcoming Pixel Buds 2a, which will bring premium features at an affordable price. The new earbuds will get active noise cancellation and spatial audio – features that Google has so far reserved only for more expensive models.

Finally, modern mid-range earbuds

As we discussed in detail in December, Google desperately lacked modern mid-range earbuds. While the top-of-the-line Pixel Buds Pro 2 cost over five thousand Czech crowns, essentially the only cheaper alternative – the four-year-old Pixel Buds A – is long outdated compared to the competition. They lack basic features like ANC or transparency mode, which can now be found even in significantly cheaper models.

Pixel Buds 2a will elegantly solve this problem. For a price of around two to three thousand Czech crowns, they will offer features that users of cheaper Google earbuds have been waiting for for years.

What the new Pixel Buds 2a will bring

According to the leaked table, the Pixel Buds 2a will get active noise cancellation. It won’t be as advanced as Silent Seal 2.0 in the Pro model, but for earbuds priced at 99 dollars, it’s impressive equipment. In addition to ANC, spatial audio will also be added – another feature that has so far been exclusive to premium models.

Battery life will please with 7 hours of playback with active ANC, and a total of 20 hours with the case. This is not far from the premium Pixel Buds Pro 2 with their 8/30 hours. On the other hand, wireless charging of the case, head movement tracking, and conversation detection features will be missing, which was essentially to be expected.

We already know the design from previous leaks

We also recently reported on the Pixel Buds 2a in connection with leaked renders. The earbuds will arrive in three color variants – Iris, Strawberry, and Fog Light. Interesting are the new cutouts on the earbud body, similar to those on the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which serve for active noise cancellation microphones.

The case will retain the familiar Google earbud design, but this time the entire interior will be color-matched with the earbuds. This is a nice detail that will be especially appreciated with more vibrant color variants.

Unveiling already in August

Google plans the official unveiling for August 20, 2025, along with the Pixel 10 series. In European countries, including the Czech Republic, you might get the earbuds for free with a pre-order of one of the new phones – Google regularly uses a similar strategy.

If you don’t want to wait until August and crave top-tier Google earbuds now, Pixel Buds Pro 2 are the best choice with excellent ANC and up to 12 hours of battery life.
