The wait for the new Xiaomi flagship series is coming to an end. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed via its official website that the global launch of the Xiaomi 17 series will take place on February 28, 2026, in Barcelona – traditionally as part of the MWC trade fair. The livestream starts at 2:00 PM Central European Time, and Xiaomi is already teasing a “new era of photography” and deepening its cooperation with the German brand Leica.

Those who subscribe to news and subsequently order one of the newly introduced phones will be entered into a draw for a Xiaomi car model. With the Xiaomi 17 series, the manufacturer also includes several exclusive services. Xiaomi 17: Compact Flagship with a Giant Battery

The base model Xiaomi 17 targets users who prefer more compact dimensions. The phone features a 6.3″ CrystalRes OLED display with a resolution of 2656 × 1220 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a maximum frequency of 4.6 GHz, combined with 12 GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The photographic equipment relies on Leica Summilux optics with three 50Mpx sensors – a main one with an aperture of f/1.67, a wide-angle (f/2.4), and a telephoto lens (f/2.0) with 5x optical zoom. A surprisingly large 6330mAh battery supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone weighs 191 grams and meets IP68 certification.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra: 200Mpx Telephoto Lens as the Main Attraction

The Ultra version represents a true camera phone for demanding users. Its highlight is a 200Mpx Leica telephoto lens with focal lengths of 75–100 mm and an aperture of f/2.39, complemented by a 50Mpx main sensor (f/1.67) and a 50Mpx ultrawide lens (f/2.2). Xiaomi thus continues the trend of extremely high resolution in telephoto lenses, which it started with the 15 Ultra model.

The phone offers a 6.9″ HyperRGB OLED display with a resolution of 2608 × 1200 pixels and is powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, this time combined with 16 GB RAM. Interestingly, the battery has “only” 6000 mAh – less than the base model – and supports 90W wired charging. Dimensions of 162.9 × 77.6 × 8.29 mm and a weight of 218.4 grams correspond to a more robust construction.

Software and Connectivity

Both phones run on Android with the HyperOS overlay and integrated artificial intelligence Xiaomi Hyper AI. This includes tools like AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, and AI Interpreter. Also present are Circle to Search with Google and Google Gemini integration. In terms of connectivity, support for Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 7, and of course, 5G networks is worth mentioning.
