Google has finally clarified when Gemini will arrive on the Google TV Streamer streaming box and other Google TV devices. After a vague “later this year,” the company now promises deployment “during winter,” which in practice means December 2025 to March 2026.

Gemini on TV: Smarter than Assistant

Google has officially confirmed that Gemini for Google TV will arrive on Google TV Streamer and other (especially in the USA) popular devices, including Walmart onn. 4K Pro, new 2025 models of Hisense U7, U8, and UX, and TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K televisions.

Currently, Gemini is only available on the TCL QM9K series. A few Sony Bravia TV owners reported seeing a Gemini setup screen last week, but otherwise, availability remains very limited.

What exactly can Gemini do on big screens? Google promises “free-flowing conversations” especially around entertainment. You can specify what you want to watch or describe a series whose name you can’t remember. Gemini can recap episodes, search for reviews, explain new topics, and offer relevant videos from YouTube.

“Winter” is a rather vague term

The problem is that “winter” can mean anything between December and March. Google originally spoke of “later this year,” suggesting a launch no later than the end of 2025. Now the company has shifted the deadline to winter, which technically could be early 2026.

Gemini is already running on Google Home

Google has just launched Gemini for Google Home – a voice assistant for Nest speakers and smart displays. Gemini on these devices functions as a more advanced version of Google Assistant and allows for more natural conversation.

On TVs, Gemini is set to bring even more. Instead of simple commands like “play series X,” you’ll be able to ask complex questions in natural language. For example: “What happened in the last episode of Riverdale?” or “Find me an action movie with cars and acting on the level of Fast & Furious, but better quality”.

Responses will be visually rich and optimized for large screens – not just text, but also previews, information cards, and links to specific content.
