Owners of the Galaxy S26 already got their hands on the new One UI 9 overlay, built on Android 17, in mid-May when Samsung launched the public beta. Owners of last year’s Galaxy S25 series have only been watching so far. However, according to a fresh leak, their turn is coming faster than expected. Samsung is reportedly already internally testing One UI 9 specifically for the Galaxy S25.

What we know about the testing so far

The information was brought by well-known leaker Tarun Vats, who stated on the X network that he caught the first internal test build of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25 series. However, due to encryption, he was unable to decipher the software version, so we don’t have a single detail about specific changes and features yet.

The timing is particularly interesting. Vats reminds us that last year, the first internal build of One UI 8 for Galaxy S24 appeared as late as June 19. This year’s build for Galaxy S25, however, showed up about two weeks earlier, suggesting that Samsung has development well underway ahead of schedule.

Beta might come soon, Galaxy S24 owners will wait

According to Vats, the One UI 9 beta program for Galaxy S25 could start as early as this month, or in July (however, it will not be available in the Czech Republic). This would also align with the expected schedule, according to which the stable version for the Galaxy S25 series is supposed to arrive in roughly the same window as for the Galaxy S26, i.e., in the summer after the unveiling of the foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.

Owners of the year-before-last’s Galaxy S24 series are worse off. According to the leaker, no similar activities are currently underway for them, and they will have to wait for the first signs of testing until next month at the earliest.
