Do you have Android? Google just launched a new Gemini look, the animation looks beautiful

  • Google is starting to roll out a new Gemini overlay design with rounder shapes and a livelier animation
  • Instead of sliding up from the bottom, the panel appears as a circle that expands into a pill shape
  • The change is currently only available to a limited number of users

Google is once again experimenting with the design of its artificial intelligence. Previously, the Gemini panel slid up from the bottom as a complete rectangle with rounded corners. Now, instead, a small circle first appears just above the navigation bar, which smoothly expands into a pill shape across the entire width of the display. It’s that “bouncy” effect you might know from Material You animations.

Rounder, livelier, but still the same Gemini

Functionally, nothing changes. On the left, you still have the plus button for adding files, in the middle the “ask Gemini” button, on the right the microphone and Gemini Live. At the top is a slider to open the full application. The characteristic four-color glow in Google’s colors – red, yellow, green, and blue – also remains.

Anyone else notice the redesign?

Interestingly, even the “Share screen with Live” button has adopted a rounder, pill-like shape. Google is clearly unifying the design across the entire interface.

However, there’s one catch – the new design is very similar to Circle to Search. Both now have rounded shapes and similar animations. For some, this might be confusing, especially when you launch both functions with a similar gesture.

When will you get it? Typically – gradually

As is customary with Google, the rollout is gradual. The first users have been reporting the change since yesterday, some have had it for a few days already. It’s not an A/B test, but a classic phased deployment. If you’re impatient, you can try clearing the Google app cache, but it’s not a guaranteed solution.

By the way, this is already the third Gemini redesign in the last year. In January, Google changed the tall rectangular card to the current lower design, and now it’s coming with rounder shapes. It seems that in Mountain View, they are still unsure what their AI assistant should actually look like.

How do you like the new Gemini look?
