As part of Black Friday, Alza is dropping the price of the HP OmniBook 5 Next Gen AI from the original 25,590 CZK to 18,990 CZK. For less than nineteen thousand, you get a Snapdragon X Plus processor, a 14″ OLED display, 32 GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. According to foreign reviews, this laptop has phenomenal battery life of over 16 hours and an excellent OLED display, but weaker performance for demanding tasks. It’s an ideal choice for students and people on the go who need long battery life and a quality display – not for those who want to play games or produce demanding video content.

16+ hours of battery life – the main star

The biggest advantage of the HP OmniBook 5 Next Gen AI is its battery life. Foreign tests measured over 16 hours of normal use – that’s more than the MacBook Air M4 (14 hours). Thanks to its 59Wh battery and power-efficient Snapdragon X Plus processor, the laptop can last a full day or even two without charging. Fast charging will replenish 50% of the capacity in 30 minutes.

For students or anyone who spends the whole day away from an outlet, this is a crucial advantage. You don’t have to carry a charger everywhere, and the laptop simply works when you need it. The weight of 1.29 kg also makes the OmniBook an ideal travel companion.

OLED display for 19 thousand

The second big advantage is the 14″ WUXGA (1920×1200) OLED display. OLED in a laptop for nineteen thousand is not common – most competitors at this price point have IPS LCD. Foreign reviews praise the vibrant colors, deep blacks, and 95% DCI-P3 color coverage. A brightness of 300 nits is average, but sufficient for everyday use.

Additionally, OLED saves energy in dark mode, contributing to long battery life. For watching movies, working with documents, or reading, the display is excellent. The only catch? The glossy surface can reflect in bright light.

What you get for 18,990 CZK

The HP OmniBook 5 Next Gen AI features a Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-42-100) – a processor with an NPU for AI tasks. In benchmarks, it lags behind the MacBook Air M4, but for everyday tasks (web, Office, email, streaming), the performance is more than sufficient. Problems arise with more demanding applications or gaming, but it also depends on your usage. The laptop can handle a typical vacation video or photo editing, but it’s not for professionals.

32 GB LPDDR5x RAM and a 1TB SSD is solid equipment – most laptops at this price point have 16 GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. This is an advantage for multitasking and larger data files. The keyboard is, according to reviews, pleasant to type on (though plastic), the touchpad is surprisingly good, and the 1080p FHD IR webcam with a privacy shutter is above average.

Ports: 1× USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, 2× USB-C (charging + data), 3.5mm audio jack. Thunderbolt or USB4 are missing, but for everyday use, it’s sufficient. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are standard.

Minor issue: the left side of the keyboard gets warm when charging. It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s noticeable. The build quality is “budget-friendly” according to reviews – plastic bezels around the display, plastic keyboard. For nineteen thousand, it’s not surprising, but don’t expect a premium feel.

Conclusion: Battery Life and OLED at a Reasonable Price

The HP OmniBook 5 Next Gen AI for 18,990 CZK is the best choice for students and people on the go who need long battery life and a quality display. 16+ hours of battery and OLED for nineteen thousand is a great deal. But it’s not a universal laptop – weaker performance limits more demanding tasks.

Foreign reviews summarize it well: great value for money for those who prioritize mobility and battery life. If you need maximum performance, invest more in a MacBook or a Windows laptop with an Intel/AMD processor. But if Office, web, and streaming are enough for you, and you want a laptop that lasts all day (or two), this is a reasonable choice. The laptop is available in stock at Alza.
