Looking for a quality TV for a smaller room or bedroom? The TCL 43P7K with a compact 43-inch diagonal is now on sale for its lowest price yet of 6,989 CZK. When it was launched on the Czech market, it cost almost double – specifically 12,490 CZK. Who is this QLED TV suitable for and what does it offer for its price?

QLED panel with a billion colors for the price of a regular LED TV

The TCL 43P7K features a QLED panel with Quantum Crystal technology, which uses nanomaterials with quantum dots to display over a billion color shades. The panel covers 93% of the DCI-P3 color space, ensuring faithful color reproduction, especially when watching movies and series. The 4K Ultra HD (3840 × 2160 pixels) resolution delivers a sharp picture even on a 43-inch diagonal.

The TV uses a TCL in-house HVA panel, which, according to the manufacturer, offers three times higher contrast than conventional LCD panels. The viewing angle exceeds 178 degrees, so the picture remains high-quality even when viewed from the side. The lower 60 Hz refresh rate is understandable given the price, but the TV at least to some extent makes the picture smoother using MEMC technology.

AiPQ Processor enhances picture using artificial intelligence

The AiPQ processor developed by TCL is responsible for image processing. It uses several algorithms working with artificial intelligence – the Ai Clarity function analyzes each frame and increases sharpness even for lower-resolution sources. Ai Color optimizes colors according to scene content and preserves natural skin tones. Ai Contrast adjusts the brightness of individual parts of the image according to the lighting conditions in the room.

The TV supports all major HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG. This allows it to display a wider range of brightness and contrasts when playing compatible content from platforms like Netflix or Disney+. The manufacturer does not specify the maximum panel brightness, but given the price, it likely will not exceed 400 nits.

Google TV with Czech applications and voice control

The Google TV operating system provides access to all popular streaming services. In the Czech Republic, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Oneplay, and other applications are available. The system allows content playback directly from a phone using the Chromecast function.

For parents, the kids’ profile function is useful, which restricts access only to content suitable for children. The TV also supports the TCL Home application for controlling other TCL smart devices directly from the screen.

Gamers will appreciate the special Game Master mode with a gaming panel (Game Bar), which displays parameters such as frame rate and HDR status. Three picture presets are available – Original, FPV for shooters, and RPG for role-playing games. The TV supports ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and features three HDMI 2.1 ports for connecting modern consoles.

An interesting feature is Aiming Aid, which helps with more precise aiming in shooters. The TV also allows switching to an ultrawide aspect ratio of 21:9 or 32:9 for a wider view in games that support this feature. The manufacturer does not specify the input lag, but it should be low enough for casual gaming.

Dolby Atmos sound from two speakers

The audio system consists of two speakers with a total output of 20 W. The TV supports Dolby Atmos surround sound and DTS Virtual:X virtual surround sound. For a better audio experience, it is advisable to connect a soundbar or home theater via HDMI ARC.

In terms of connectivity, the TV offers 3× HDMI, 2× USB, optical audio output, and Bluetooth. Internet connection is possible via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. Support for popular codecs, including H.265/HEVC for playing modern video formats, is also included.
