Don't understand physics? Gemini will generate a simulation you can control yourself

  • Google Gemini can now generate interactive simulations and models directly in chat.
  • Users can set simulation parameters using sliders and input fields.
  • The feature is available to all Gemini users with the Pro model, but not yet for school and business accounts.

Artificial intelligence has long been unsatisfied with merely generating text. Google has now taken its versatile AI assistant Gemini to the next level – instead of static images and diagrams, it can create fully functional interactive simulations that users can directly play with and experiment with. While at first glance this might seem like another gimmick purely for show, in reality, these visualizations might help us understand some more complex phenomena that would be difficult to imagine based solely on text.

Understand natural phenomena (and more) more easily

Until now, Gemini responded to more complex queries primarily with text explanations supplemented by static diagrams. The new feature fundamentally changes this approach. For example, if you ask how the Moon orbits the Earth, Gemini can now generate an interactive model where you can set the initial velocity or gravitational force using sliders and immediately see how these variables affect the stability of the orbit.

It works similarly for other topics – whether you want to rotate a molecule and explore its structure from all sides, or simulate a more complex physical system. Instead of passive reading, you can actively engage in learning.

Available now and for everyone

Interactive simulations are now rolling out to all users of the Gemini app, with no regional restrictions. To use them, you need to select the Pro model. Then, simply ask Gemini in the prompt to “show” you something or “help visualize” it. Google, however, notes that the feature is not yet available for Education and Workspace accounts.

Have you tried interactive simulations in Gemini yet?
