What does the sensor offer?

The IMMAX NEO Smart magnetic sensor consists of two parts – the main body with electronics and a magnet, which you place on the frame and sash of a window or door. As soon as they separate (i.e., open), the sensor sends a notification to the Immax NEO PRO app on your phone. The signal range is up to 30 meters in open space.

The device is powered by a CR2032 button cell battery, with a manufacturer-stated lifespan of 2 years. In practice, however, it depends on how often you open the window or door – we’ll get to that in the reviews section. The sensor also features a tamper function, which alerts you if someone tries to remove it.

Beware of the gateway requirement

Important note for potential buyers: the sensor does not work independently. It communicates via the wireless standard ZigBee 3.0, so you need a compatible gateway (hub/bridge). The ideal choice is the IMMAX NEO BRIDGE PRO Smart Zigbee 3.0, but the sensor also works with hubs from IKEA, Samsung SmartThings, Philips Hue, or with open-source solutions like Home Assistant or zigbee2mqtt.

If you already have one of these systems at home, you can easily add the sensor to it. However, without a gateway, it will be useless to you – this should be kept in mind before purchasing.

Compatibility with voice assistants

The sensor can be integrated into a broader smart home ecosystem. It supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri shortcuts. This allows you to set up automation, for example, to turn off heating in a room when a window is opened or turn on the light in the pantry.
