A few days ago, POCO began distributing the first software update for the POCO F7 smartphone, which was launched on our market only a month ago. The update, labeled OS2.0.102.0, brings a number of camera improvements and cooling optimization, which should especially please owners who complained about these aspects in the first weeks after purchasing the phone. According to the official manufacturer’s list, it addressed shortcomings based on feedback from users and the wider POCO community.

More Natural Photos with Better HDR Control

The main part of the update focuses on the camera, where the manufacturer promises several significant improvements. After installing the new software, you should notice more natural skin tones and better capture of facial details, along with improved contrast and more accurate brightness in portrait photos. Overall, photos should be sharper with better detail retention under various lighting conditions.

The HDR function has also seen significant improvement, now better balancing overexposed areas such as the sky, which should lead to a reduction in overexposure. Outdoor scenes should look more realistic, especially concerning green areas and landscapes, which should appear more faithful and accurate. All these improvements are the result of processing user feedback, as users often focused on camera shortcomings.

System Function Improvements

In addition to the camera, the update also brings optimized thermal management, which should help address overheating issues that some users complained about. The POCO F7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, which is manufactured using 4nm technology and offers eight cores with a maximum frequency of 3.21 GHz. Although it is a powerful processor, some tests have shown that it can heat up during prolonged load.

The update also includes the Android security patch from June 2025, which is already two months old at the time of the update’s release. In this area, POCO should work on releasing security updates faster to keep pace with the competition.

Further Updates on the Horizon

An interesting piece of information is that POCO has already announced the preparation of another update, which should be released by the end of August 2025. This update, provisionally referred to as OTA3, should bring further improvements and features for the POCO F7. The company has not yet revealed the specific content of this upcoming update, but it can be assumed that it will include further optimizations based on ongoing user feedback.
