In the segment of smaller smartwatches with premium materials and dual GNSS, this is practically an unbeatable offer. We tested the model ourselves and do not hesitate to recommend it. CHCI HODINKY XIAOMI V AKCI Quick summary:✅ It makes sense if you are looking for a compact, elegant watch with premium materials, top-notch health tracking, and a battery life of a week or more.⚠️ Consider carefully if you need to install third-party apps (Spotify, maps) or reply to messages directly from the watch – HyperOS does not allow this.💡 For 1,989 CZK, it is one of the most advantageous elegant smartwatches in the Czech Republic. Why the Watch S4 41mm is still interesting a year after its launch When Xiaomi introduced the 41mm version of the Watch S4 last October, it primarily targeted users with narrower wrists – in practice, mainly women, but also men who want an elegant watch instead of robust outdoor pieces. At a price of 1,989 CZK, you get a premium stainless steel case, a compact size of 41.2 × 9.5 mm, a weight of only 32 g without the strap, and hardware features practically unseen in the under 2,000 CZK category. Key parameters: display, sensors, GPS At the heart of the watch is a 1.32″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 × 466 px, a pixel density of 352 PPI, and a refresh rate of 60 Hz – animations are smooth, and in practice, this makes a difference compared to cheaper models with 30Hz panels. Peak brightness reaches 1,500 nits in HBM mode, so the screen remains readable even in direct midday sun. The Always-on display can only be activated within a time window, which saves battery. For outdoor activities, we have dual-band GNSS L1+L5 with support for five satellite systems (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, QZSS). The hardware is complemented by an improved 4-LED and 4-PD heart rate module, which can measure even during swimming, a contact skin temperature sensor with 0.1 °C accuracy, and a complete set of sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, barometer, ambient light). 5 ATM water resistance is sufficient for the pool, swimming in the sea, and showering, but not for a sauna. Connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 5.4, and the watch has a built-in speaker and microphone for Bluetooth calls via a paired phone. NFC payments are supported for Mastercard and Visa, but currently in the Czech Republic only with ČSOB and mBank – other cards can be enabled via the Curve app. POROVNAT CENY V OBCHODECH How we tested: editorial impressions Our editorial team tested the black variant with a fluoroelastomer strap and gave it 82% in our review. You barely feel the watch on your wrist – 32 g is a difference you notice immediately after switching from robust models. The glossy stainless steel surface looks premium but easily shows fingerprints. The fluoroelastomer strap with a braided texture is soft, non-slip, and very comfortable for daily wear – ideal for sports. Among the features you’ll use in practice, we were most impressed by continuous skin temperature measurement – for women, in combination with menstrual history, it provides significantly more accurate cycle prediction than classic calendar apps. Fall detection during skiing, the SOS button (press the bottom button three times), and real-time location sharing are safety features you won’t use daily, but it’s good to know they’re there. Bluetooth heart rate broadcasting will be appreciated by cyclists – heart rate data is transmitted to Garmin Edge, Bryton, or Magene bike computers. The weakness is HyperOS: you cannot install third-party applications (Spotify, YouTube Music, external maps) and you cannot reply to messages directly from the watch. You see notifications, you can reject a call, but you cannot reply to SMS or WhatsApp. If you have a phone with HyperOS 2 or 3, advanced features like Xiaomi Smart Hub for smart home control will be available, but on non-Xiaomi phones (we also tested Galaxy Z Fold7), some of these features are missing. Occasionally, we were surprised by false snap gesture detection – during one call, it was automatically rejected without me intending to reject it. Practical aspects: battery life and daily operation The battery has a capacity of 320 mAh, and Xiaomi states three endurance modes: 8 days with light use, 4 days with normal use, and 2–3 days with intensive use with AOD. In our test, with the always-on display turned off, we achieved up to 10 days between charges, which is above average in this category. With active AOD and all-day heart rate, stress, SpO₂ monitoring, and 180 minutes of GPS exercise per week, realistically expect four to five days. In terms of daily entertainment, Xiaomi has played with over 200 watch faces, including interactive ones with virtual animals (a capybara balancing oranges is a highlight). There are over 150 sports modes, covering running, swimming, cycling, skiing, and even diving. The sports vlog allows remote video recording on the phone (currently only Xiaomi and POCO models) with real-time heart rate and calorie data displayed. When it doesn’t make sense If you are used to a full-fledged Wear OS or Apple Watch ecosystem, where you can install apps for thousands of features and reply to messages with a few taps, you will be frustrated with HyperOS. Similarly, if you want full payment support without the trick of the Curve app – here, the selection in the Czech Republic is currently limited. If you need full offline maps for the wilderness, look for sports watches like Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro or Garmin – the Watch S4 does not have maps at the level of dedicated sports watches. Verdict: for whom does the 1,989 CZK price make sense The Xiaomi Watch S4 41mm in black for 1,989 CZK is the most advantageous elegant smartwatch with premium materials and top-notch health tracking you can find in the Czech Republic at this price. With a drop of 1,410 CZK compared to its launch, the price has reached a point where it makes sense to consider even for someone bothered by software limitations. If you are looking for a watch for daily wear, health and fitness tracking with occasional notifications and good battery life, this is a choice that makes sense. If you expect a full-fledged Wear OS replacement, you will have to pay at least double.
