End of the pile of remotes! Aqara Hub M200 connects smart home and older electronics Home News Aqara introduced the new M200 smart hub with an integrated IR blaster at IFA 2025 The device combines a Matter Controller, Thread Border Router, and Zigbee bridge in one The M200 Hub supports six communication protocols including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 10. 9. 2025 02:30 Advertisement Aqara utilized this year’s IFA 2025 trade fair to introduce a new central unit for smart home control. The Hub M200 model expands the brand’s portfolio with a device that can connect not only modern smart home products but also older electronics controlled by infrared signals, thanks to its integrated 360° IR blaster. IR blaster as a key feature While many competing hubs focus solely on modern communication protocols, the Aqara M200 adds a 360-degree infrared transmitter. This allows you to integrate older air conditioners, televisions, set-top boxes, or soundbars that lack Wi-Fi or Bluetooth into your smart home. The M200 Hub will thus replace your infrared remotes and enable control of your entire home from a single application. The main advantage is the possibility of automations across various devices. For example, you can set the air conditioning to turn on automatically, the TV to switch to your favorite channel, and blinds to close when you arrive home – all regardless of the age of the individual devices. Universal connection of all protocols The M200 Hub simultaneously functions as a Matter Controller, Thread Border Router, and a Matter bridge for Aqara Zigbee devices. In practice, this means it can control over 50 types of Matter-compatible devices from various manufacturers while also integrating existing Aqara Zigbee products into the Matter ecosystem. Connectivity is provided by six different communication technologies: Thread, Zigbee, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz), Ethernet, Bluetooth, and an infrared port. Thanks to the Ethernet port, you get a stable internet connection, which will be especially appreciated by users with more extensive smart home installations. Probable arrival in the Czech Republic Although Aqara has not yet announced a specific launch date or price for the M200 hub, it is highly probable that the new product will also reach the Czech market. The brand officially sells most of its products here, and the M200 hub would logically complement the existing portfolio of central units M2 and M3, which are commonly available in the Czech Republic.
