Energizer laptop with 28-hour battery life. Too bad you can't take it on a plane Home News Energizer EnergyBook Pro Ultra has a record 192Wh battery and promises up to 28 hours of work But with such a battery, you won't be allowed on a plane - the limit is usually 100 Wh For 449 euros, you get an 18" display, Ryzen 5, and 16 GB RAM - decent specs with a big "but" Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 27. 9. 2025 12:30 Advertisement Energizer, a brand better known for controller batteries, has introduced the EnergyBook Pro Ultra laptop with a massive 192Wh battery. It promises up to 28 hours of work or 7 days in standby mode. That sounds great, until you find out that with such a battery, you won’t be allowed on a plane. And that can be a problem for many… 192 Wh battery: a record with a catch What you get for those complications Weight and dimensions: the elephant in the room Price 449 euros: a tempting trap? 192 Wh battery: a record with a catch Most airlines allow batteries up to 100 Wh without restrictions, some tolerate up to 160 Wh with special permission. The EnergyBook Pro Ultra has 192 Wh. This means you’ll either have to leave it at home or risk inconvenience at airport security. It’s a paradox – you can’t take the laptop on a business trip by plane. Imagine flying to a conference and having to leave your laptop at the airport. That’s not exactly an ideal scenario. What you get for those complications The specs aren’t bad. An AMD Ryzen 5 processor (Energizer doesn’t specify the exact model), 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD are solid mid-range. However, the 18-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 isn’t particularly sharp – you’d expect at least 2K at that diagonal. Energizer promises various battery life scenarios: 28 hours of office work 11 hours of gaming or graphics 7 days in standby mode Those are nice numbers, but in reality? Modern laptops can achieve slightly worse battery life with half the battery thanks to more efficient processors. The MacBook Air M4 lasts 18 hours with a 52Wh battery. Simply put, a bigger battery isn’t always the solution. Weight and dimensions: the elephant in the room Energizer doesn’t specify the weight, but the 192Wh battery alone weighs around a kilogram. Add an 18″ display and the rest of the hardware, and you have a laptop that will weigh at least 3-3.5 kg. That’s not a travel laptop; that’s a desktop with a battery. Price 449 euros: a tempting trap? For 449 euros (about 11,000 CZK), you get a large laptop with a huge battery. That doesn’t sound bad. So, if you’re one of those people who get goosebumps at the thought of flying, it might not be a bad option… The EnergyBook Pro Ultra is a technological curiosity. Yes, a 192Wh battery is a record. But it’s a record nobody needed. Modern laptops achieve excellent battery life with smaller batteries thanks to efficient processors. Energizer solved the problem with brute force instead of smartly. The result? A heavy laptop that you cannot travel with by plane. That’s a pretty fundamental failure for a mobile device. Unless you’re a prepper preparing for the apocalypse, the EnergyBook Pro Ultra makes no sense. There are better, lighter, and more practical ways to get long battery life. And most importantly – you can fly with them on vacation. What do you think of Energizer’s new laptop?
