Motorola introduced the affordable smartphone Moto G06 Power to the Czech market at the beginning of the year, which you can now find on Alza at a significantly reduced price during the Black Friday sales. From the recommended price of 3,499 CZK the price dropped to just 2,490 CZK, which represents a discount of almost a thousand. For this amount, you get a phone with an exceptionally large battery and decent features for undemanding users.

Giant battery as the main trump card

The biggest advantage of the Motorola Moto G06 Power is its 7,000 mAh battery, which the manufacturer calls the largest in its price category. Motorola states an endurance of up to 62 hours with normal use, which in practice means the phone can easily handle two days of intensive use or several days of lighter use. Charging takes place via a USB-C connector with 18 W power, which is not a record speed, but given the price, it is an acceptable compromise.

The phone weighs 220 grams and its dimensions are 171.35 × 77.5 × 8.82 mm. Given the battery size, these are surprisingly reasonable values. The back of the phone is made of a leather-like material in Pantone Laurel Oak (brown) or Pantone Tapestry colors.

Large display with fast refresh rate

Motorola opted for a 6.88-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (1640 × 720 pixels). Although it’s not a Full HD panel, it’s perfectly sufficient for everyday social media use and web browsing. The 120Hz refresh rate, which ensures smooth scrolling, is a welcome feature. The brightness of 600 nits is rather on the lower side. The display is protected by durable Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

An interesting feature is Water Touch, which allows controlling the display even with wet fingers. For listening to music or watching videos, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos technology and a Bass Boost function for stronger bass are available. A classic 3.5mm jack for headphones is also present.

Performance for undemanding users

Under the hood, an octa-core processor MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme with Mali-G52 MC2 graphics is at work. This chipset is designed for the entry and mid-range, handling common applications, social media, web browsing, or simpler games. However, the performance will not be sufficient for more demanding 3D games. The phone has 4 GB of RAM, which can be virtually expanded up to 12 GB using the RAM Boost feature by utilizing internal storage.

The internal storage has a capacity of 256 GB, which is an above-average value for this price category. The memory can also be expanded with a microSD card by up to an additional 1 TB. The phone runs on the latest Android 15 with a clean interface without unnecessary overlays.

Cameras for basic shots

The main camera has a resolution of 50 Mpx with an aperture of f/1.8 and Quad Pixel technology, which combines 4 pixels into one for better results in low light. In practice, you get images with a resolution of 12.5 Mpx. An 8Mpx front camera is used for selfies. Video can be recorded at a maximum resolution of Full HD at 30 fps.

The camera features include basic modes such as night vision, portrait, panorama, or a professional mode with manual settings. Edits are also available using the Google Photos app, including features utilizing artificial intelligence.

Practical features and connectivity

The Motorola Moto G06 Power surprises with the presence of an NFC chip for contactless payments, which is not a given in this price category. The phone has IP64 certification for basic protection against dust and splashing water. A fingerprint reader located on the side of the phone is used for quick unlocking.

Connectivity includes dual SIM (2× nano SIM + microSD), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with support for both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, Bluetooth, GPS, and 4G LTE support. The phone also supports the Circle to Search feature for quick searching by circling objects on the display and the integrated Google Gemini assistant.

Who is the phone for?

The Motorola Moto G06 Power at the promotional price of 2,490 CZK represents an interesting choice for undemanding users who primarily require long battery life from a phone. It will be appreciated by people who spend time on social media, browse the web, occasionally play a simple game, or need a phone for longer trips without charging options. The large 256 GB storage will please those who like to save photos, videos, or download content for offline access.

Conversely, more demanding users looking for performance for modern 3D games or a higher-quality camera should opt for more expensive models. The HD+ display resolution may also not suit everyone accustomed to sharper Full HD panels.
