Finally! The latest Android update got rid of an annoying home screen appearance issue for me Home News Pixel UI allows icons to be recolored to match your wallpaper Some apps resisted until the latest update Android 16 QPR2 Beta 1 finally forced recoloring for all icons Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 24. 8. 2025 06:30 Advertisement Google has apparently started rolling out a new beta version of the Android 16 operating system to Pixels. With the QPR2 Beta 1 update, a change finally arrived on my Pixel 9 Pro XL that solves one of the most annoying problems with the appearance of my home screen. While it didn’t organize my icons for me, so they’re still scattered across several different pages, it did force the “rebels” to change color. Finally, all my icons are the same color Pixel UI allows you to customize the color of home screen icons to match the phone’s theme, which is based on the set wallpaper. In my case, it’s green, into which a significant portion of applications automatically colored themselves. Some, however, still resisted – specifically, TikTok was one of them, which annoyed me so much that I had to move it from the first page of the home screen to the second. I simply couldn’t stand looking at one colorful icon amidst a bunch of green ones. Fortunately, that’s now over. With the new Android 16 update, the system has forced the recoloring of absolutely all app and service icons on the home screen. For some, it worked perfectly, for others a little less so, but regardless, the result is unequivocally positive: all my apps are now green, and I no longer have to be ashamed of my home screen. More software news on the horizon Google has once again ramped up its software efforts, especially in connection with the Pixel 10 series, which brings not only new system features but also a brand new Journal app. We expect Google to eventually bring at least some of these to older devices as well.
