Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 17 series has already had its Chinese premiere. However, as you surely know, Chinese and global Redmi models usually differ more or less. This will likely be the case this time too. Thanks to the Indonesian national database, we have the first information about the global variant of the Redmi 17 Pro – and it’s not a pretty sight. Fortunately, we also have encouraging news from an insider.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Memory Variants

Information about the global version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro from Xiaomi comes to us from the NBD database, which, along with the American FCC and Chinese TENAA, is a very reliable source of information. And given that Redmi phones sold in Indonesia are hardware-wise identical to those on the European market, there’s a high chance that this information will also be relevant for phones available in our region.

Now, to the news about the specifications of the global Redmi Note 17 Pro. Records have appeared in the aforementioned NBD database that clearly refer to the Redmi Note 17 Pro by product number. According to these import records, one model was equipped with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, and the second even with only 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. For a better-equipped Pro model, the first variant would be questionable but still acceptable. However, the idea of a lower mid-range smartphone in a 4/64 GB version is truly unpleasant in 2026.

Yes, it is still possible that this is an error, or a model specifically intended for the Indonesian market. However, if this model truly exists, it is more than a harsh reminder of the current state of the memory chip market and also that the worst is definitely not behind us. After all, not long ago, it was no problem for a Redmi 15C to arrive on the market for less than 3,500 CZK and offer an 8 / 256 GB variant.

We Also Have Good News

Despite the not-so-encouraging news so far, we are convinced that 6/128 GB will certainly not be the top version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro, but the question remains how much we will pay extra for higher memory variants. In addition to the aforementioned, we also learned from the database about the existence of an unspecified Poco model. It bears a similar product number to the global Redmi Note 17 Pro, with only a minor modification to the designation, which should refer to the Poco brand.

Good news then comes from the very trustworthy leaker Kacper Skrzypek, who has long focused specifically on Xiaomi and its ecosystem. He claims that the global variant of the Redmi Note 17 Pro is expected to offer a massive 8,340 mAh battery. While this is less than the Chinese variant, which will offer a full 9,000 mAh, it is undoubtedly still an excellent value.

Do you think Xiaomi will actually release the Redmi Note 17 Pro 4 / 64 GB?
