Smart locks with integrated Wi-Fi and Matter support usually start at 7–8 thousand. The Nuki Smart Lock Pro 5th generation has now dropped on Alza from 7,499 CZK to 6,749 CZK, which is the lowest price since the last promotion. It supports Matter and boasts easy installation.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you want to unlock doors with your mobile, share access with family, or integrate the lock into a smart home system (Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant).
⚠️ Consider if you don’t want to invest in a through-cylinder lock – without it, you won’t be able to get in if the battery dies.
💡 For 6,749 CZK you get integrated Wi-Fi (no Bridge needed), Matter support, and European design – features that often mean a higher price from competitors.

Why this lock is interesting

The Nuki Smart Lock Pro targets users who want to unlock doors without keys and keep track of apartment access. The main advantage of the 5th generation is the integrated Wi-Fi module – you don’t need to buy an external Bridge for another 3 thousand to control the lock remotely. Just connect it to your home network, and you have access from anywhere via the app.

The regular price of the lock is 7,499 CZK; in the last promotion, it sold for 7,124 CZK. The current price of 6,749 CZK represents a 10% discount and the lowest price in recent times. Nuki is designed in Austria and manufactured in Europe, which some users appreciate in terms of build quality and data protection.

How it works and what it can do

The lock is mounted on the inside of the door directly onto the existing cylinder (Euro profile). According to the manufacturer, the entire installation takes less than 5 minutes and requires no drilling or door modifications. The new brushless motor ensures fast and quiet locking – you can choose between a faster or quieter mode in the app.

Key features include Auto Unlock (automatic unlocking upon arrival based on mobile phone location) and Auto Lock (automatic locking after leaving or closing the door). Through the app, you can share access with up to 200 people, set time schedules, and monitor activity logs. The lock supports Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings, and thanks to Matter over Thread support, it integrates seamlessly into Home Assistant.

Battery and charging

The lock is powered by a Li-Ion battery with a lifespan of 4–9 months depending on usage intensity and chosen connection (Wi-Fi vs. Thread). One user in a review states that when used via Matter/Thread with Wi-Fi off, the lock lasted approximately 3 months. Charging occurs via a magnetic USB-C connector – you can charge it directly on the door, so you don’t have to lock it with a key during charging. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.

What users say

On Alza, the lock has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 (27 ratings) and 89% of customers recommend it. Over 1,000 units have been sold. Users most often praise the build quality, easy installation, Czech application, and reliable smart home integration. One reviewer summarized: “Great lock, more expensive, but incomparable to the competition.” Others appreciate that the lock operates significantly quieter than its predecessor.

However, critical voices also emerge. The return rate is 4.96%, which is higher than for standard electronics. Some users reported problems with Wi-Fi connection stability or false reports of lock status. In silent mode, the motor may not be able to handle heavier security doors. And in Apple Home, according to one reviewer, there’s an issue with the unlock function – the lock simultaneously pulls the latch and the door opens, which can be a problem with remote control.

Important: the need for a through-cylinder

This is a crucial piece of information mentioned by several reviewers: if you have a standard lock cylinder that, when locked from one side, cannot be unlocked from the other, you must acquire a double-sided (through-cylinder) cylinder. The smart lock works by keeping a key permanently inserted from the inside, and the motor rotates it. If the lock runs out of battery or stops working, without a through-cylinder, you won’t be able to get into the apartment except with a locksmith. A through-cylinder costs an additional approximately 1,000–2,000 CZK depending on the type.

When it doesn’t make sense

If you don’t want to invest in a through-cylinder or have doors with a non-standard lock (outside the Euro profile), Nuki is not a suitable choice. Similarly, if you have heavy security doors – the motor may not be sufficient in silent mode. And if you prefer locks with a fingerprint reader or keypad directly on the lock, you will need to purchase a Nuki Keypad 2.0.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

If you want a smart lock with integrated Wi-Fi and Matter support from a European manufacturer, the Nuki Smart Lock Pro for 6,749 CZK is one of the most sophisticated models on the market. Easy drill-free installation, remote access without a Bridge, support for all major smart home platforms, and a Czech application – these are features that competitors do not offer at a similar price. However, be aware of the need to acquire a through-cylinder and possibly a keypad if you want to unlock without a mobile phone.

Do you use a smart lock, or do you still lock with a traditional key?
