The smart lock works by keeping a key permanently inserted from the inside, and the motor rotates it. If the lock runs out of battery or stops working, without a through-cylinder, you won’t be able to get into the apartment except with a locksmith. A through-cylinder costs an additional approximately 1,000–2,000 CZK depending on the type.

When it doesn’t make sense

If you don’t want to invest in a through-cylinder or have doors with a non-standard lock (outside the Euro profile), Nuki is not a suitable choice. Similarly, if you have heavy security doors – the motor may not be sufficient in silent mode. And if you prefer locks with a fingerprint reader or keypad directly on the lock, you will need to purchase a Nuki Keypad 2.0.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

If you want a smart lock with integrated Wi-Fi and Matter support from a European manufacturer, the Nuki Smart Lock Pro for 6,749 CZK is one of the most sophisticated models on the market. Easy drill-free installation, remote access without a Bridge, support for all major smart home platforms, and a Czech application – these are features that competitors do not offer at a similar price. However, be aware of the need to acquire a through-cylinder and possibly a keypad if you want to unlock without a mobile phone.
