Japanese Fujitsu introduced the UX-K3 laptop to its domestic market, claiming the title of the world’s lightest laptop. As TechRadar points out, it shares the crown with the older Fujitsu WU-X/G2 from 2022 and the competing, also Japanese, Dynabook Lifebook WU5/J3. The new model targets users who care about every gram in their backpack but don’t want to compromise on port selection and connectivity.

Laptop, even with adapter, weighs under 800 g

The UX-K3 with its 14″ display reached approximately 634 g, surpassing previous records in the series. Fujitsu also reduced the size of the power adapter – the power supply itself, including the cable, now weighs approximately 151 g, so the complete travel set comfortably fits under the 800 g mark. Anyone who travels with a smaller backpack or frequently moves between meetings during the day will immediately notice the difference. Despite efforts to maximize weight reduction, the chassis meets selected MIL-STD tests, meaning it’s designed for daily carrying and rougher handling.

Display impresses with a surprisingly large diagonal

Inside the lightweight body is a 14″ WUXGA (1920×1200) matte panel with a variable refresh rate for better battery life. The manufacturer does not explicitly state the maximum value, but it is likely 60 Hz. Even with the extreme weight reduction, a physical webcam shutter for privacy is included.

No compromises on processor or ports

The heart of the laptop is the Intel Core Ultra 7 255U (Arrow Lake, Series 2), launched earlier this year. It offers 12 cores / 14 threads in a 2P+8E+2 LP-E configuration, max. turbo up to 5.2 GHz, 12 MB cache, and a base TDP of around 15 W. The integrated Intel AI Boost (NPU) accelerates local AI tasks and helps with efficiency. For everyday office work, photo management, and lighter video editing, the UX-K3 has more than enough power – while remaining quiet and energy-efficient.

The equipment aims for a “no-dongle” work style. Therefore, it’s not necessary to connect USB hubs or adapters for full functionality. The features include 2× USB-C, 2× USB-A, HDMI, gigabit LAN, and a microSD card slot. Wireless connectivity is enhanced by support for the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 for connecting peripherals. A practical detail is also the keyboard with status LEDs directly in the keys for quick orientation.

Battery life and charging

Fujitsu also states surprisingly good battery life. While 18 h in idle and around 7 h of video playback doesn’t match today’s flagship models, it’s perfectly sufficient for moving between meetings. For a full day of office work, there’s a real risk you’ll need to recharge via USB-C, but given the minimal weight of the construction, this drawback can be excused for the laptop.

Designed for frequent travelers

The UX-K3 is ideal for people who truly travel light but don’t want to compromise on ports or connectivity: consultants moving between clients, journalists and photographers, managers on tour, students with busy schedules, and anyone who appreciates the lightest 14″ laptop on the market with full features. If you’re looking for a combination of extremely low weight, a modern processor with AI acceleration, and robust ports without adapters, the UX-K3 would be aimed precisely at you. However, its availability on the Czech market doesn’t look very promising. In Japan, however, it is available for 280,280 yen, which is about 38,800 CZK converted, and local interested parties can try it out live in brick-and-mortar stores before purchasing.

Would you go for the lightest 14″ laptop, or would you prefer a larger battery?
