After months of waiting and gradual rollout, it’s here. Gemini Live, Google’s voice assistant, finally handles what it promised at the I/O 2025 developer conference in May – direct integration with productivity apps. While it previously could only answer general queries, it can now manage creating notes in Keep, tasks in the Tasks app, or events in Calendar.

It all started in late June, when the feature appeared for a select few. But Google took its time – even when it announced the first Gemini Drop with a bundle of new features in mid-July, the integration still wasn’t widely available. Only in recent days has the situation changed, and the feature is massively rolling out across users.

What Gemini Live can do now

Imagine you’re driving and want to make a note. Just say “Note in Keep that I need to buy milk” and it’s done. Or planning a meeting? “Create a calendar event for next Tuesday at 10 AM” and Gemini Live will handle it. It also works more generally – if you ask “do I have any reminders today?”, the assistant will search your Tasks and respond.

The implementation of Google Maps is interesting. You can ask for details about places near you, such as where the nearest gas station is. However, what Gemini Live intentionally cannot do is access your saved places and private lists in Maps.

How to tell if the integration is working

When Gemini Live communicates with one of the apps, you’ll see it immediately. Above the controls, an icon with the app’s name will appear, surrounded by the familiar circular loading animation. After the action is completed, such as creating a note, a confirmation “Note created” will be displayed with a useful “Undo” button in case you change your mind.

By the way, the integration also works when sharing the screen or video.

How to enable the feature and where it works

Activation is simple. In Gemini settings, you’ll find the Apps section in the account menu, where you just need to turn on the Google Workspace toggle. This enables integration with Keep, Calendar, and Tasks. The toggle for Google Maps is usually found lower down on the same page.

The good news is that the feature is available for free and for paying users (Google AI Pro/Ultra). It works on Android (stable and beta versions of the Google app) and also on iOS. On Samsung devices, Gemini Live can also work with proprietary apps – Samsung Calendar, Notes, and Reminders.

At the time of writing, I unfortunately did not have access to the integration. As soon as that changes, the article will be updated with screenshots in Czech.

Is app integration with Gemini Live already working for you?
