As part of Black Friday, Alza is dropping the price of the 85″ TCL 85Q6C from the original 57,990 CZK to 29,990 CZK. For thirty thousand, you get a 215cm Mini LED television with 4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate in gaming mode, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and Google TV. The main compromise? 420 dimming zones – for an 85″ size, this is rather average; premium models have 700+ zones. But for 30 thousand, it’s still a solid deal if you’re looking for the maximum diagonal at a reasonable price.

420 zones: Average for an 85″ TV

The TCL 85Q6C has 420 dimming zones – this is a technology that allows local dimming of the backlight for better contrast and black levels. It sounds impressive, but for an 85″ (215 cm) diagonal, it’s rather average.

For comparison: premium 85″ Mini LED televisions have 700-1200+ zones. 420 zones on an 85″ means that each zone controls a larger area of the image, which leads to a more visible blooming effect – light “leaks” around bright objects on a dark background.

It’s not a dealbreaker, but it means that in dark scenes with bright objects (such as subtitles, stars in the night sky), you will see a halo around the bright elements. TCL claims that their All-domain Halo Control technology solves the problem, but physically, you cannot stretch 420 zones across an 85″ screen without compromises.

For 30 thousand, it’s acceptable – premium Mini LED televisions with 1000+ zones cost 50-100 thousand. But be realistic about the contrast.

What you get for 29,990 CZK

An 85″ (215 cm) diagonal is huge – you need a large room (at least 4-5 meters distance from the couch). 4K Ultra HD resolution on such a size has a density of 52 pixels per inch, which is borderline.

The 144Hz refresh rate in gaming mode is great for PS5 or Xbox Series X. HDMI 2.1 with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) ensures smooth, tear-free gaming. The HVA panel offers better viewing angles than standard VA panels.

HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision – all major HDR standards supported. IMAX Enhanced certification and Filmmaker Mode disable additional image processing for an authentic cinematic experience.

Google TV is a fast and intuitive platform with access to all streaming services. Google Assistant enables voice control, and Chromecast and AirPlay 2 are included for sharing content from your phone.

ONKYO sound: Surprisingly good

The 40W ONKYO speakers with a built-in subwoofer and support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS Virtual:X are above average for a TV in this price range. They won’t replace a home theater, but they’re sufficient for casual viewing. The Multisound feature allows simultaneous audio output from the TV and wireless headphones with individual volume settings.

Conclusion: Maximum size for reasonable money

The TCL 85Q6C for 29,990 CZK is the best choice for those who want the maximum diagonal for the minimum money. 420 dimming zones are average for an 85″ TV, not a premium number – blooming will be visible in dark scenes. But for 30 thousand, you get a 215cm screen, 144Hz gaming, HDR10+/Dolby Vision, Google TV, and solid ONKYO sound.

If you have a large room, play on consoles, and mostly watch during the day or with lighting, this is a great Black Friday deal.
