Giant power banks from Choetech appear on Alza’s sales quite often, but this model hasn’t until now. The more powerful 50,000mAh version, which can even charge a laptop, has been sold for the same price since June. Until now. Choetech PD65W with code ALZADNY30 costs 979 Kč instead of 1,399 Kč, so for the first time, you can get it for under a thousand.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense if you want a large power reserve for a cottage, camping, or in case of a power outage, and occasionally need to charge a laptop from it.
⚠️ Consider that it weighs 1.1 kg and you cannot take it on a plane due to its capacity.
💡 For 979 Kč you get it for 420 Kč cheaper than its price since launch.

From June for 1,399 Kč, now for the first time 420 Kč cheaper

When Alza added this power bank to its offer in June, we wrote about it as a new product for 1,399 Kč. Now it has received its first sale: with code ALZADNY30 it will cost 979 Kč, so you save 420 Kč, or 30%. Alza also displays the HlídačShopů (Shop Watchdog) label “We agree on the discount” for the product, indicating that it is not an artificially inflated original price.

Choetech also has a cheaper sibling on Alza with the same capacity, but it only handles 22.5 W. The power output is precisely why you should opt for the PD65W. The weaker model can easily charge a phone or headphones, but 65 W via USB-C is also sufficient for a laptop that charges via Power Delivery.

More like a small backup station than a pocket power bank

The capacity of 50,000 mAh corresponds to approximately 185 Wh. You can charge your phone many times from it, and you’ll survive a multi-day trip without an outlet even with a tablet and headphones. Just don’t expect the full capacity from the box to reach your devices, as some energy is lost during voltage conversion with every power bank.

There are three outputs: one USB-C and two USB-A, so you can charge a phone, watch, and headphones simultaneously, for example. The manufacturer states a total output of 65 W, which is shared among the ports. If you connect more devices to the power bank, none of them will likely receive full power. You can charge the power bank itself via USB-C, and a cable with a USB-C connector is included in the package.

The power bank has a digital display that shows the remaining energy in percentages, so you don’t have to guess based on four dots. It also features a carrying strap and, according to the manufacturer, protection against overcharging, overvoltage, short circuit, overheating, and overcurrent.

A kilo and ten decagrams that won’t fly on a plane

That much energy weighs something. The power bank weighs 1,100 grams, so you won’t slip it into a jacket pocket; you’ll find its place more likely in a backpack, car trunk, or a drawer in case of a power outage. And leave it at home for air travel: at 185 Wh, it exceeds the 160 Wh limit that airlines allow for power banks, so it won’t even pass in carry-on luggage.

Regarding laptops. It will charge those that draw power via USB-C with Power Delivery, and for a typical work or school laptop, 65 W should be sufficient. However, a more powerful machine with higher consumption may charge slowly, or merely maintain the battery level under load.

When is the PD65W unnecessarily large?

If you’re looking for a power bank for everyday carry, this one will likely annoy you. Those who primarily want power in a small body will look for smaller models, such as the 10,000mAh AlzaPower Vision with 100W output. Do you fly often? Then you need a smaller capacity. And if you won’t be charging a laptop from the power bank, you’ll be fine with the weaker 22.5W sibling with the same capacity.

For under a thousand, I’d take it to the cottage and in the car

The Choetech PD65W is large, heavy, and not allowed on planes. Those who account for this will get a power supply for several days and enough power to run a laptop for 979 Kč with code ALZADNY30. For weekends at the cottage, camping, or as a backup in case of a power outage, I would definitely take it at this price. However, for everyday carry and air travel, choose a smaller power bank.

Do you carry a giant power bank with you just in case, or is a smaller pocket-sized one enough for you?
