Samsung is paving the way for the stable version of One UI 8, which is expected to arrive on a wider range of Galaxy devices in the near future. The Korean giant has now updated its popular Good Lock modules to work seamlessly with the latest system version. Specifically, these are Home Up, MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar – tools that allow customizing the user interface of Galaxy phones down to the smallest details.

Home Up with groundbreaking customization options

The update to the Home Up module, version 17.0.00.28, deserves the most attention, as it brings unprecedented home screen and animation customization options. Among the most interesting new features is complete control over app launch animations – you can adjust their speed, transparency, animation curve, and even how icon corners transform when opening.

The DIY Home Screen feature has also undergone significant improvements, now including:

  • Alignment Guide Lines – guides for precise alignment of elements on the screen
  • Item Group Editing – ability to group and edit multiple elements at once
  • Item Edit Lock – lock against accidental changes to your layout
  • Floating Toolbar – a floating control for easier editing
  • Sticker Action Function – integration with apps and touch animations

Additionally, the option to hide page indicators for a cleaner home screen look and horizontal scrolling in the app list when sorted alphabetically has been added. Also interesting is the Home Up Quick Access feature, which displays relevant customization options after a long press on an app icon or an empty space on the home screen.

MultiStar not just for foldable phones

The MultiStar module has been updated to version 10.0.32 and, in addition to One UI 8 support, brings an exclusive “Launcher Widget” feature for Galaxy Z Flip 7. This allows adding app widgets to the phone’s outer display, significantly expanding its functionality when closed.

For all devices with multi-window support, MultiStar also brings two new useful features:

  • App Screen Size Conversion – an icon for easy switching between full-screen, landscape, and portrait modes
  • Portrait Mode Screen Ratio Adjustment – option to switch between 16:9 and 21:9 aspect ratios

Samsung has not forgotten about other popular modules either. NavStar (version 8.0.00.4) for customizing the navigation bar and QuickStar (version 9.0.00.01) for modifying quick toggles and the status bar have also gained One UI 8 overlay support.

How to get the updated modules

Updates for all mentioned modules are already available via the Galaxy Store. To install them, simply open the Galaxy Store, go to Menu > Updates, and click the “Update All” button in the top right corner of the screen.

It is important to mention that the new module versions are compatible only with One UI 8. Currently, only the foldable Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 officially have this system version. Users of other Galaxy devices will have to wait for the stable One UI 8 version to arrive on their devices to fully utilize these modules.

When will One UI 8 arrive on other devices?

The Good Lock module updates suggest that the stable version of One UI 8 for a wider portfolio of devices might be just around the corner. Samsung traditionally releases major system updates first for its latest flagships and then gradually extends them to older models. According to current information, the first wave of updates beyond the new foldable phones could begin in August, likely with the Galaxy S25 series.

Do you use any of the Good Lock modules? Which feature are you most looking forward to?
