Google again boasts about Chrome's speed. It has broken new records and leads over the competition

Google considers Chrome’s speed one of its priorities and regularly boasts about how much the browser has sped up again. The latest report speaks of two records at once. In the Speedometer 3.1 and JetStream 3 tests, Chrome reportedly surpassed not only itself but also all competition.

Two Records and Three Main Fronts

Since the beginning of the year, Chrome’s score in the JetStream 3 benchmark has increased by 10% to a record 469 points. In Speedometer 3.1, the browser improved by 5% in about a year, and with a score of 61 points, it holds the top spot among all browsers, according to Google. Both figures were achieved on a MacBook Pro laptop with an M5 chip.

The acceleration is due to work in three areas. The largest part is attributed to JavaScript, the language on which the vast majority of interactive websites are built. Google sped up the processing of common operations and fine-tuned when the code should be optimized at all. The second area is WebAssembly, where Chrome improved mainly in computationally intensive tasks such as artificial intelligence or cryptography. The third front is the Blink rendering engine, which is responsible for displaying the page itself. Here, Google accelerated text loading and processing, as well as animation fluidity.

In practice, this means faster loading of websites and more complex web applications. Whether you notice the difference at first glance is a question, but Google is consistently pushing benchmark numbers upwards.
