Google is preparing for the August unveiling of its new generation of smartwatches. When will Pixel Watch 4 be unveiled?

According to leaked information, Google will unveil the Pixel Watch 4 at its Made by Google event, which will take place on August 20, 2025. Pre-orders are expected to start on the same day, with watch shipments beginning a week later, around August 28. According to Android Headlines, the watches will again be available in two sizes, 41 mm and 45 mm, which will please users with different wrist sizes.

Significantly brighter display

One of the most significant new features will be the improved display. The Actua Display on the Pixel Watch 4 will offer a maximum brightness of up to 3,000 nits, which is a significant leap from the 2,000 nits of the current generation. This value will bring the watches to the level of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy Watch8. The panel remains an AMOLED LTPO type with a resolution of 320 ppi and can dynamically change the refresh rate in the range of 1-60 Hz for an optimal balance between display fluidity and battery life.

Same processor, but a new coprocessor for AI

Regarding performance, Google surprisingly opts again for the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset, which powered the previous two generations of Pixel Watch. However, the new feature is the M55 coprocessor, which should bring significant improvements in artificial intelligence – it is said to handle 5x more AI tasks with lower power consumption. This will be especially important given the integration of the Gemini assistant into the new watches.

The size of the operating memory, 2 GB SDRAM, and storage, 32 GB eMMC, remains the same as in previous models. However, this should still be more than sufficient for the smooth operation of the Wear OS 6 system.

Larger battery and longer endurance

Good news for potential users is the significant improvement in battery life. The smaller 41mm model will receive a battery with a capacity of 325 mAh, which should allow it to last up to 30 hours with the always-on display or 48 hours in power-saving mode.

The larger 45mm version will then offer a battery with a capacity of 455 mAh, which should ensure up to 40 hours of operation with the always-on display and up to 72 hours in power-saving mode. This is a significant step forward, especially for the larger variant, which could thus last up to three days on a single charge.

New features and a complete set of sensors

Google is also adding a practical new feature in the form of side charging capability. This will allow you to use the watch as a bedside clock while charging, which surprisingly was not possible until now. This feature will certainly please those who want to use their watch even during nighttime charging.

Pixel Watch 4 will offer a complete set of sensors including a compass, red and infrared sensors for SpO2 monitoring, electrical sensors compatible with the ECG app, an optical heart rate sensor, an altimeter, a gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a barometer, a magnetometer, and UWB technology.

How did Pixel Watch 3 perform?

The Google Pixel Watch 3, introduced last year, marked a significant step forward for the company in the smartwatch sector. The third generation was finally available in two sizes (41 mm and 45 mm), a long-requested improvement especially by male users. The watches offered an Actua display with brightness up to 2,000 nits, which was easily readable even in direct sunlight. Battery life ranged around 24 hours with the always-on display and up to 36 hours in power-saving mode.

As we stated in our review, the Pixel Watch 3 represented an excellent choice for Android users, especially with Pixel phones, and stood out primarily for its elegant design, smooth system performance, and advanced fitness and health features. The main drawbacks were only a limited selection of straps due to the proprietary system and the necessity of a Fitbit Premium subscription for some advanced features.
