Browsing long articles on a mobile phone can sometimes be tedious. That’s why Google is adding a new Summarize page button to the Gemini overlay in Chrome for Android, which can create a concise summary of an entire webpage in a few seconds.

Quick Summary with One Click

When you activate the Gemini overlay in Chrome on Android, three buttons now appear above the text field. A new Summarize page button has been added between the existing Share screen with Live mode and Ask about this page options. After pressing it, a colorful animation starts, and within approximately 15 seconds, Gemini generates a summary of the entire webpage content.

The new feature was first reported by 9to5Google, but it is already starting to appear on devices in our region. The button is already available on my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, which indicates a gradual rollout to all users.

How the Feature Works in Practice

The summary appears in a floating window, which you can expand to view the full text. Interestingly, the feature always uses the Gemini 2.5 Flash model, regardless of which model you have set in the Gemini application itself. After generating the summary, you can ask follow-up questions directly about the page’s content.

Its practical use will be especially appreciated by those who frequently read long technical articles, product reviews, or extensive guides. Instead of sifting through dozens of paragraphs, you’ll get an overview of the main points in a few seconds. The feature is also useful for quickly researching multiple sources on a single topic or when you need to quickly find out if an article contains the information you’re looking for.

Availability of the New Feature

Google announced the feature in September 2025 along with the introduction of Gemini to Chrome for Windows and Mac. On Android, it is now gradually appearing for all users. The button is displayed not only when browsing regular webpages but also when reading articles from Google Discover, search results, or news in the Google News app.

Do you use Gemini for working with webpages?
