Google has introduced a significant improvement to its AI assistant Gemini, allowing it to learn from previous conversations and thus provide much more relevant answers. The new feature aims to make Gemini a true digital partner that remembers your preferences, interests, and important details you’ve discussed in the past. The feature is gradually being rolled out for the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, and will later arrive on the faster 2.5 Flash.

How Gemini’s new memory works

When the personalized context feature is enabled (which it will be by default), Gemini will automatically remember key information and preferences you share during chats. The system then uses this data to create more natural and relevant responses that take your context into account. Instead of generic answers, you receive personalized advice tailored to your needs and interests.

Practical examples of everyday use

Google provides several concrete scenarios where the new feature can significantly improve the user experience. For example, if you have previously discussed your favorite comic book heroes and their abilities, Gemini, when asked for a birthday party idea, can recommend a celebration themed around your favorite superhero, including themed food and a photo booth with props.

Another example concerns book recommendations. If you previously asked Gemini for a summary of popular non-fiction titles from BookTok, when you next ask for a book tip, the AI will suggest works with similar themes. It can even provide popular quotes suitable for sharing on social media.

For content creators, a third scenario can be useful. If you brainstormed ideas for a YouTube channel focused on Japanese culture with Gemini, when asked for new content ideas, it can suggest a specific video format, such as a “First time trying…” series, where you record your first experiences with Japanese food, traditional crafts like origami, or a tea ceremony.

Availability and technical details

The feature is gradually being rolled out starting this week, currently only in selected countries. Unfortunately, it is not yet available in the Czech Republic, and Google has not specified when the new feature will reach us. Personalized conversations will first be available when using the 2.5 Pro model, and in the coming weeks, it will also expand to the 2.5 Flash model and to other countries.

If you want to discuss something that Gemini should not remember, you can start a temporary chat (this new feature arrived as part of the same update, you might already know it from ChatGPT). Individual conversations can also be deleted via the activity management panel in Gemini apps, preventing their use for personalization.

The question remains how quickly the new feature will reach the Czech Republic and whether it will fully support the Czech language. It is not yet available at all in countries within the European Economic Area.
