Google Home Speaker officially unveiled! Brings Gemini and 360° sound, but won't come to the Czech Republic

Google has unveiled a new smart home speaker called the Google Home Speaker, which had previously been the subject of many leaks. The new device will offer integration with the AI assistant Gemini and advanced smart home control features. It will hit store shelves next spring, but unfortunately, it will not officially come to the Czech Republic.

Smart assistant Gemini at the center of the action

The Google Home Speaker is designed with an emphasis on natural conversations with the advanced AI assistant Gemini. Users can simply say “Hey Google” and then communicate with the device like a living housemate – including the ability to interrupt and ask follow-up questions. Thanks to the newly introduced Google Home Premium subscription, which will be free for the first 6 months with the device, users will gain access to Gemini Live mode. This is ideal for conducting fluid conversations that mimic real one-on-one interaction.

With the help of the Gemini assistant, you can, for example, get cooking advice when you need to find a substitute for a missing ingredient, or ask about the next steps in a recipe. The assistant will also help with learning new skills, practicing a presentation, or mastering a foreign language. It will even be able to search the history of footage from Nest cameras and create summaries of what happened in your home during your absence.

Quality sound for every room

The speaker provides balanced 360° sound that spreads evenly in all directions, so according to Google, it doesn’t matter where in the room it is placed. The company offers 3 months of YouTube Premium service for free with the speaker, giving you access to over 100 million ad-free songs via the YouTube Music platform.

The Google Home Speaker can be connected with other Google Home and Nest speakers to play music in multiple rooms simultaneously. You can also use two speakers as a stereo pair or pair them with a Google TV Streamer device to create a home theater with surround sound.

Sustainable and thoughtful design

The Google Home Speaker will be offered in four color variants: Porcelain (beige), Hazel (grey), Jade (green), and Berry (a distinct shade of lighter red). The device is made from 39% recycled materials and is wrapped in innovative yarn created using a unique 3D knitting process that significantly reduces textile waste.

The speaker is equipped with a light ring that informs the user when the device is listening or speaking. On the underside, there is a physical microphone mute switch, which provides additional privacy when needed.

Availability and Price

The Google Home Speaker will hit the market in spring 2026 for a price of £99.99 (approximately 2,800 CZK). It will officially be available in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Unfortunately, the Czech Republic is missing from the list.

Customers will receive a six-month trial version of the newly introduced Google Home Premium subscription in the standard version with the speaker. After the trial period ends, they will be able to continue using the basic assistant functions, including quick answers to questions and smart home control.
