Google is preparing a massive update to its Nest portfolio. New cameras, a doorbell, and a speaker have leaked

Four years of waiting are over. Google is preparing a complete overhaul of its Nest smart home portfolio, which includes new cameras, a doorbell, and a speaker powered by Gemini AI. Android Headlines exclusively published renders and specifications of the upcoming products, indicating that Google is finally responding to the competition.

Google Home Speaker once again the target of a leak

The new Google Home Speaker first appeared during the Pixel 10 series presentation last week. Now we have officially-looking renders available in four color variants – white (Snow), gray (Hazel), red (Berry), and black. The speaker will offer 360-degree sound and will replace the existing Google Assistant with the newer Gemini artificial intelligence. This could theoretically allow it to communicate in Czech as well, because, as we informed you in July, Gemini already works with the Google Home platform in our native language.

An interesting feature is said to be Sound Sensing, which can reportedly detect when you are not home and listen for sounds like broken glass or a triggered fire alarm. The speaker also supports Gemini Live and Learn with Gemini features, and it can be paired with a Google TV Streamer for a better audio experience when watching TV.

Nest cameras finally with 2K resolution

After four years, Google will introduce a new generation of Nest cameras. The third-generation indoor Nest Cam Indoor comes in three colors (Snow, Berry, Hazel), and the main upgrade is the transition from Full HD to 2K HDR resolution. The camera will offer 6x digital zoom with a Zoom and Crop function, allowing you to focus on a specific area, such as a baby’s crib.

The second-generation outdoor Nest Cam Outdoor will receive similar improvements – 2K HDR resolution, digital zoom, and Snow and Hazel color variants. Interestingly, the white version will only be available in multi-packs of several cameras, while the gray Hazel will likely remain a Google Store exclusive.

Both cameras can locally store up to an hour of footage in case of a WiFi outage and offer three-hour event previews in the form of 10-second clips. Intelligent alerts for people, vehicles, or animals are also included thanks to Gemini integration.

New doorbell with a clever feature

The third-generation Nest Doorbell in a wired version will come in three colors – Snow, Hazel, and beige Linen. Like the cameras, it will get 2K resolution, digital zoom, and all AI features, including familiar face recognition.

A new feature is Daily Summaries, which uses Gemini to create a daily summary of all recorded events. This feature will be available for all new cameras and the doorbell. Google will also rename the Nest Aware subscription to Google Home Premium with a new Premium Advanced tier.

Will the new products come to the Czech Republic?

The release date for the new Nest products is not yet known, but given the leak of detailed information, it should be within the next few weeks. The question remains regarding availability in the Czech Republic. Although Google opened an official Google Store here a year ago, it does not yet offer Nest products. However, given the gradual expansion of its product range, we might see official distribution of these new products as well.

A surprise is the absence of new battery-powered versions of the cameras and doorbell. Google seems to be focusing primarily on wired models, which offer more stable performance and do not require regular recharging.
